I might end up making mako canonically intersex again bc that's truly just the only way I can imagine them but I kind of worry about having my only canon intersex character be nonbinary. I can see a lot of them as intersex but it just truly doesn't come up for most of them? Mako is already doing stuff with gender that people question them about and they would definitely mention their intersexuality but like, everyone else is a lot less concerned with gender stuff except for asra who is maybe the least intersex character I have

one of the things I feel really strongly about for godhunt is like, not canonizing anyone's sex + whether or not they're trans and in what way. Obviously asra is a bit of an exception as they're actively figuring out they're trans in the book. But still, like. I know my headcanons (the strongest of which is that mako is intersex) but I want it to be wholly up to the reader. Mostly because I want to make it an option that All Of Them Are Intersex

mako and asra are really interesting as like, semi foils? Asra is so desperate for magic they just dont have that they'll ruin their life to get it, and Mako has magic thrust on them that ruins their life completely without them ever wanting it. As well as the gender stuff going on (mako has always felt fully comfortable and supported in crossing gender boundaries and fucking with peoples perception of them, asra barely even manages to figure out that they maybe aren't a guy and even that's destroying so much of the social expectations set up for them)

Objectively neither Tristan nor Orion would have the relationship with the ocean that I have BUT I want them to. Tristan has extremely oceanic energy and Orion is the type of guy who would love swimming in saltwater. I KNOW the stuff they're weird about respectively is oldgrowth forests and the night sky/stars but like. Hhh. I want to dunk them in sea water

honestly I'm really happy with most of the characters, I also feel like I got Mako and Del really well though I'm very familiar with them. First scene is very good though, Del is very clearly himself in a really good way- very quiet and a proper knight and endlessly patient with mako's bullshit, while Mako is actively trying to trip him up

I'm also super excited to start writing another character who I feel like I've Gotten again- this one wasn't in the original story but was in the second draft as a sad brooding traumatized nobody oc with magic. For obvious reasons I am not vibing w that anymore. Instead they're a wolf god who is trying very hard to hide that they're a wolf god and be a Person for the time being. Im really excited to write them bc 1) I am also a wolf trying to hide that im a wolf and pretend I'm human and 2) I have just pinned down the vibes. Still lonerlike and unfriendly and kind of rude but not sadboy anymore just a REALLY confused wolf. Canonically he changes his form repeatedly during the story to try and emulate humans closer. He doesn't know what human feet look like. His eyes are yellow. He's never seen molars before.
