The eldest child of Prince Daemon and the late Lady Laena Velaryon, Baela is 19 years old, the older twin of Lady Rhaena. She is a dragon rider, bonded to Moondancer, who hatched in her cradle, and the pair first took flight together at the age of 12. She is notoriously, almost inseparably close with her twin, Lady Rhaena, somewhat surprisingly so, even for sisters, given their highly distinct personalities. However, the twins always appear uniquely high spirited in one another's presence. Their bond is rivaled only by that of Baela's with Prince Jacaerys, her betrothed since he came of age nearly five years ago. Raised and trained to rule together when Jacaerys one day ascends the Iron Throne, their close childhood friendship has blossomed into a romance so passionate as to rival their respective parents, and it is a remarkable rarity in the Red Keep to see one without the other.

Baela's big day was fast approaching, and Teora was tasked with giving her friend an unforgettable night.

Teora spent a lot of time thinking about what to do, jotting down various ideas, but eventually realized the best solution was to talk directly to Baela. After all, it was her last night as a single woman, and Teora didn’t want her to feel forced into doing something she wouldn’t enjoy.

“Princess Baela, I have two plans for your final night as a bachelorette… but I decided to let you choose what you’d prefer.” Teora said. On her list were two options: a relaxing evening where they would all be treated like true princesses, with massages, skin treatments, and hair care — everything to ensure Baela felt renewed for her big day.

The other idea was more daring: they would disguise themselves and sneak away, enjoying the night as commoners, free from the responsibilities of being a princess or a lady of the court. A chance to experience the world in a whole new way.

—A night outside sounds great. You know how much I love sneaking away. —She smiled at Teora, although she did considered the massages; but it was something they could another day. Leaving the Red Keep was harder to do as Baela's responsibilities grew bigger and more demanding.

Baela shifted her attention to the disguises Teora brought with her. Baela had spent a almost suspicious amount of time in the streets of King's Landing. Her father was known as the Prince of the City and she wanted to follow in his footsteps, making sure the people knew her and trusted her in the way they did with him. Still, she was sure her experience was drastically different to his. She was no commander or a man and her muña insisted she had company when she visited any place; Dragonpit or anywhere else.
