Valori ☆ The Sunshine Solo
Lunar Animal : Year of the Monkey
Sexual Orientation : Bisexual
‐------‐--------------------------------------------------------------------
History : Valori's mother was a joytoy who had herself regular business with an influential corpo exec from Zetatech, the man warmly referring to her as his favorite girl. For an extended period of time, Valori's mother had herself a comfortable position at his side, indulging herself in the corpo lifestyle until one night, her protection failed. After a few months of ghosting the gentleman, she arrived at his door, bravely confessing to him that she was pregnant with his child, hoping he'd understand...only to be ruthlessly cut out of his life.
Woefully unprepared to be a mother, she took the last resort, delivering Valori out in a muddy alleyway next to an orphanage and dropped her off on the steps.
When she was four years old, Valori experienced one of her greatest core memories. Valori met an exquisitely refined, poised model looking to improve her image with the public by donating a large sum of eddies to the orphanage, and was left in awe of her. It was this event that made her want to be a model when she was older.
When she was five years old, she was adopted and left the orphanage behind. Things with her adoptive family weren't perfect by any means, but it was at least a home for her...until her parents were tragically murdered when they got caught in the crossfire during an all too common gang turf war by the age of seven.
The next six years of her life were spent in an abusive hellhole with a monster of an adoptive father who used his money that should have been for her wellbeing on his vices. It took a substantial amount of planning on her part, but with the help of the other kids in her neighborhood, she successfully managed to run away from home.
The next two years of her life were spent couch surfing until her options ran dry, leaving her homeless and on the streets between the ages of fifteen and seventeen. When she was eighteen, she was discovered by an indie fashion designer looking for a model to promote his clothes which paid her enough money to finally be able to buy her first car.
With this newfound freedom, Valori took off for Atlanta, hoping to attend the modeling school of her dreams. While living there, Valori met her first boyfriend, Eddie, who she wound up renting an apartment with.
Unfortunately, for Valori, she experienced a profound amount of rejection from all of the model agencies she attempted to apply to, the agencies not wanting to hire someone with such a checkered history. These rejections just so happened to bump up against the discovery of her boyfriend's drug dealing operation, livid over how he sold her car to pay for a shipment of glitter.
Completely broken by the whole experience, Valori took the last of her savings to pay for a bus ticket back to Night City, unaware of just how dramatically her life was about to change...
-------------------------------------------------------
Personality Traits : Thanks to Valori's inconsistent upbringing, she never expects anything good to last, so she keeps herself protected under thick defensive walls. She's not outwardly cruel by any means, but barely anyone knows her authentic self.
As someone who was once an aspiring model, she pays strict attention to how she looks in front of people, wearing high end clothing to display she's coming from a position of strength.
No matter how many eddies she gains as a merc, she has a bit of a habit of stealing things, conditioned to grab as much as she can take so she can eat that night.

-------------------------------------------------------
Jackie Welles - her ride or die brother from another mother...working alongside him was easily one of the most stable periods in her life, and Valori misses him every fucking day.
Mama Welles - the first positive maternal figure in her life. The El Coyote Cojo is practically a second home for her.
Viktor Vektor - the closest thing Valori has to a father and the only ripperdoc Valori trusts with her cyberware.
Misty Olszewski - as soon as Jackie introduced Valori to Misty, they got along with each other to the point where Valori thinks of her as the sister she always wanted.
Judy Alvarez - she really thought Judy and herself were gonna go the distance, but unfortunately, things weren't meant to be. The more involved Valori became in being a merc, working with dangerous high stakes clients, the more their lifestyles became mismatched. What they had burned bright, but burned down too fast.
Goro Takemura - she wants to trust the guy, often finding his awkward text messages to her a source of entertainment, but his unwavering loyalty to Arasaka makes for one hell of a deal breaker.
Panam Palmer - her contact out in the Badlands. Whenever the two of them get together, something's bound to explode followed by downing a stiff drink...Val wouldn't want it any other way.
River Ward - if there's any job that requires following a trail of clues, River's only one holo-call away. Valori respects River's moral compass, wishing she had someone like him around to protect her when she was a kid.
Rogue Amendiares - her mentor figure. To Valori, no solo is more inspiring and more intimidating to her than Rogue. She longs to impress the living legend, but things take a complicated turn once Rogue finds out about the situation with Johnny.
Kerry Eurodyne - Valori's younger self would short-circuit if you were to tell her she would end up becoming close friends with Kerry Eurodyne of all people. Kerry often tells Valori that if she gets tired with the merc life, he'll use his connections to get her signed on with a highly respected modeling agency.
Johnny Silverhand - the stitch in her side, the uncomfortable conversation she doesn't wanna have, the cause of so much of her current strife...and also the one person who understands her authentic self the most. At first, things with Johnny were acutely adversarial, hating how he literally got underneath her skin...but as time went on and the barriers between them faded, the more Valori fell madly in love with him. However, when she looks at his exes : Rogue, living legend of the Afterlife and the best fixer in Night City, and Alt Cunningham, one of the greatest netrunners to have ever lived, she wonders what in the hell she has to offer him that could potentially measure up to them. To protect her heart, she will never tell him how she really feels.
