16) are there any characters who haunt you?

If this is referring to a character who has stayed with me for a long time that would be Faolin, an elf warrior of sorts from the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini. I read it in 2015 I think and in canon, Faolin dies at the very beginning of the first book, and we only get a few extra details about him as the series continues.

But since he was said to be very close to the elven princess Arya, who was my favorite character 👀 I sorta made an au in my mind where he didn't actually die and he's not an elf exactly but a separate yet similar race and he sorta shows up again to train Eragon, reconnect with Arya and help save the world. So um yeah he and his story keep popping up in my head occasionally 😅

18) were there any works you read that affected you so much that it influenced your writing style? What were they?

Hmm affected me, yes, influenced my style, probably not XD. That would be the Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. This is probably my favorite book of all time, I'm blown away every time by the narrative perspective, the emotion he manages to convey and the DAMN BEAUTIFUL WRITING!

I don't mean plot stuff necessarily, but the descriptions, the way things are expressed, seriously, I find them stunning, so masterfully are the words used, just- wow. And yeah, it hasn't influenced my style, mine is kinda too stiff and technical right now, but honestly, the Book Thief is like my goal and inspiration in terms of beautiful use of works and impact.

The girl laughed. "How did I not crack my head open and die at the bottom of that pit, you mean? Well you've got my Mizuchi blood to thank for that!"

She raised her bangs to show what had probably been a nasty wound on her forehead, but that had long stopped bleeding and was already closing itself. And despite that and other scrapes and scratches she had all over her legs and arms, she seemed very upbeat. Suspiciously so...

"Thanks for the fun challenge, I'm glad we got to play one last game before we-"

"What the hell are you talking about?" he cut her off. "It wasn't a game!" 

Her smile dropped at that and her eyebrows furrowed considering this, "It wasn't? So you actually... you actually meant for me to stay down there?" A flash of understanding and all glee was gone from her eyes. "You meant for me to die.">>

The Mizuchi senses

Shizuko and her group went through that test in the dark maze, right? But she wasn't as bothered by the bad lighting as the others and that's because... (drum roll) sight is actually one of the weaker sense in a Mizuchi.

If you were to rank the classic five from worst to best, you'd have:

Taste - basically zero; because they eat shinsu and that has no taste almost, it never really got to develop; food/drink would have to have a really strong flavor for them to pick up on it

Sight - almost as good a regular human's, just less focused with things that are closer, because those are analyzed more via smell and feeling

Hearing - practically just like a human's; they've learned not to depend on it too much, because underwater, for example, sounds are distorted anyway

Smell - a keener sense of smell than humans have, they're able to detect scents even if they're subtle or farther away and also follow them to discover the origin

About Mizuchi feeding

So you know how Shizuko is planning to eat a pigeon, or to be specific, the shinsu of a pigeon?

Well, that's a Mizuchi thing :D the Mizuchi feed on the shinsu of living creatures. Like humans have meat, vegetables etc to get nutrients from, they have shinsu fulfilling the energy needs. To extract it, they'd normally need an exit place like a wound of any type, but with greater control over shinsu in general, they could just pull it out.

Clears throat

First off, thank you for the invitation! :)) I’ve been dying to share some stuff about my OC, but with my writing speed right now, I probably won’t get to any of this soon. XD So the ask came at a great time.

Sooo my OC Shizuko is a Mizuchi, a race I’ve made up for Tower of God, and these guys, they’re practically notorious for being the most unambitious creatures (I won’t go into why that is because it’s part of the lore I hope to include in the fic 👀). And because they are like this, they generally make it their goal to- um find a goal. XD Shizuko was raised in this environment, pushed to find a purpose for herself.

Buuuuuut being the MC, she’s not like the others of her kind :)) (how exactly will come up later). That said, her older brother that she was closest to did find something he wanted to do with his life, but that got him banished from the town. This created a serious internal struggle (as you’d expect from a kid) and she started to doubt the teachings of the elders. How come we’re encouraged to find a goal, but when he found his, he was sent away…? Shizuko was thinking of running away and joining him, but that’s when Headon came and invited her to enter the Tower. Dun dun duuun may the fic begin! :D
