Roughly 4 years ago I decided to throw one last big party in DC before I moved out to LA. At the time, I didn't know that this party would become the special Moombahton Massive gathering that it is today. I remember asking Sabo if he wanted to do it with me. He understood the moombahton vibe and where I was coming from. Plus he was one of the best DJs I've ever known. He was down, and we were ready to go. But we had to do it at a bigger spot than Velvet Lounge, which was a 70 person capacity dive bar where I was doing my Moombahton Mondays party at the time. Tittsworth and U St Music Hall offered their spot and it was intimidating because it was such a bigger space than what I was used to doing parties in. But it felt right and we went for it. Then we thought, fuck it, let's do it real big and fly out Munchi from Rotterdam. Even though I was completely broke and had first month's rent waiting for me in LA the next day, I couldn't resist throwing such a bash! Anyhow, to make a long story short, the night popped off beyond any of our expectations and that set the tone for Moombahton Massive for years to come. It felt like such a house party with an undeniable family vibe. It was all about the music, energy and the food (Mama Nada's famous Empanadas). Fast forward to 2014 and it still is.Â
 Every month when we do our DC Moombahton Massives, I like to yell on the mic "Who's here for the first time?" and I get a good reaction. Then I yell "Who's been here since the first Massive?" and the crowd ROARS. Each and every time, it never fails. Man, people LOVE moombahton. I love moombahton. I always tell myself I'll continue to do this party so long as people want it, including me. I'm a firm believer of never forcing anything, in music and in life. It turns out people want it. We've been selling out almost every month in DC and we now hold amazing residencies in Brooklyn (Output) and Miami (Grand Central). We've even taken it overseas to Colombia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Germany, and Spain. Some people travel from all over the world just to rock with us on a Wednesday night in DC. I think that speaks volume and we're super proud to be a part of that!
To me, moombahton is beyond any sound, formula, tempo, genre, scene, etc. To me, moombahton is a universal culture, a vibe, and a great excuse to party your ass off. And Moombahton Massive is our home for that. When I mean "our," I mean everyone directly involved in throwing the Massives and everyone that comes out to support the music. Moombahton may not always sound exactly what's popular or what it used to be a few years ago, yet the vibe has proven to be timeless.
