theres a trend going around asking women 30+ whats their life is like without a husband and children and the responses globally are so positive and inspiring. here are just a handful that made me so happy for the freedom women fought to have!
i feel like when we discuss the gender pay gap there’s this underlying idea people have that women choose these underpaying fields/jobs when in reality these fields/jobs are underpaid BECAUSE they’re women dominated and often have been for centuries. female labour has always been undervalued and that translated into being underpaid.
nurses/teachers/etc aren’t getting shitty pay because society believes it’s an easy/unskilled/unnecessary job, they’re getting shitty pay because they’re mostly women and society never views women’s labour as valuable or important.
i love when cats make that face when they lift their head to bump it into sometihng

Disappointingly but unsurprisingly, the recent media panic over looksmaxxing (young boys are hitting their bones with hammers! They’re taking unregulated peptides and micro-dosing meth! They’re injecting synthol into their muscles! They’re listening to harmful influencers and developing body dysmorphia!) has not led to a broader push back against the beauty standards enforced on girls and women.
I understand that it’s because misogyny is normalised and we just expect girls women to be ‘vain’ (and by ‘vain’ I mean willing to spend time and money in service of dangerous and often painful ‘beauty’ treatments), and we have normalised cosmetic procedures for women/girls as ‘self-care’.
It is galling to see condemnation and hand-wringing over where we as a society have gone wrong and how we’re failing boys because harmful beauty standards have started to affect teenage boys and men as males (as opposed to affecting them because of their race or sexuality which obvs isn’t new), when girls and women have been dealing with the same shit for decades, and nobody gives a shit.
Botox injections, waist trainers, fillers, ‘fox eye lifts’, chemical peels, unregulated laxative teas and shakes snd lollipops shilled by Kardashians, influencers promoting unregulated tanning pills, cosmetic tattooing, breast implants, BBLs and restrictive diets are just as (if not more) dangerous than what looksmaxxers are doing. Despite that, we’re told that those things are a normal part of ‘looking after ourselves’ and ‘feeling good’ about our bodies.
Why is it a horrifying crisis when men and boys do it, but an empowering self-care choice to hand-wave away when it’s us?
everyone on the internet rushing to self diagnose as autistic and waving it around like a trendy identity meanwhile there is me steadfastly refusing to consider I may be autistic despite my issues and despite even my mother suggesting I am
my brain definitely works differently but I am not convinced it’s autism. I think it’s a Me original disorder called experiencing the world hurts my brain
i think the biggest capitalist scam is that you can supposedly buy the real you.
"see these clothes? it shows who i really am! this makeup, too! i need plastic surgery so that my face can look like my aesthetic!"
you don't need to buy your true self, it's in your personality not your appearance
My jaw literally dropped when I saw this...... gagged me.......
I wish I took a better pic of this writing in a bar bathroom in toronto bc I think of it so often. Be So Completely Yourself That No One Is Attracted To You Or Wants To Employ You

It should 100% be illegal for companies to make you give them your payment information when you sign up for a free trial version of their product. It is not necessary and there is no good fucking reason for them to do it. It’s blatantly just so they can steal forgetful customers’ money.
oh hey, thanks for reminding me to cancel a free trial i had going on.
Reblog to save an unnecessary charge cause it also reminded me to cancel a trial lol

no joke i've seen plenty of lefties call aborting after a down syndrome test "genocide" and "eugenics" and post shit like "imagine if my mom aborted me just because i was autistic.....#SoSad" like there is definitely a wider discussion to be had about destigmatizing developmental disabilities and neurodivergence but truly shocking that the conclusion they come to is to force people to give birth. or at the very least guilt them into it
Because using the female body for the betterment of an underrepresented group is not alien to the left. Thats why the Tylenol fiasco was interpreted to be an attack against autistic people when instead it was a clearly targeted attack against women. Because the fact that the right wants to control the female body isnt wrong (really I only believe leftists are for abortion because it can benefit men and credits their group with morality) whats wrong is HOW they utilize the female body.
the comments on this post prove my hypothesis that leftists who call these women eugenicists have never interacted with a cognitively disabled person. their only frame of reference for "disability" is other leftists who slap the label in their online bios to check off an oppression box. to them, disability is level 1 autism, a pots or EDS diagnosis, major depressive disorder—and those disorders are what leftists frame their politics and moral judgements around.
in reality, the disabled people who are at most risk for facing ableism are people with cognitive disabilities—dementia sufferers, level 3 autistics, people with down syndrome, etc. they are not able to live fully independently. they will require constant, daily care to have a mere acceptable quality of life. they often have comorbid disorders such as epilepsy that require extensive medical care.
in a perfect world, women wouldn't have to abort disabled fetuses. they would be given endless resources—time, help, money. society would have recreational centers built to keep the cognitively disabled safe, respite care with highly trained nurses, specialty hospitals with doctors knowledgeable in cognitive disabilities and how they interact with comorbid conditions, care centers with no possibility of abuse, etc etc etc.
but we don't live in a perfect world. in the US, having a disabled child means subjecting them to a life of suffering and solitude, and then fearing that they'll be abused after you die. why in the hell would you willingly make that choice? why would you deprive someone else of making a choice? is it not the kinder thing to do, the most loving decision as a parent, to say "i love you too much to allow you to be born in these conditions"?
like i genuinely don't think people realize how difficult it is to take care of a disabled person, due to how hostile society is for them.
the answer isn't to shame and blame pregnant women for getting abortions. if you want to fix the problem, then maybe you should advocate for the disabled who have already been born. but that would require work, and it's much easier to just blame women. after all, it's not like you have to take care of the disabled child, right?
kinda sounds familiar, don't it? yeah, it's cause these leftists are fully pro-life when it makes them sound morally superior.
