“Not yet! Humans grow and mature very slowly compared to Pokemon.”

He took the towel and set the bottle down in the living room, waiting for it to cool. For now, he probably needed to teach Humra how to hold the kids at all.

“Here, sit on the couch. I’ll get Dimtri.”

“Hm..” Humra was definitely confused but nodded when she headed to the living room. Hopping on the couch by Shugo, glancing at him, then back to Mikale she continued, “So..humans age slowly. Is that why I’m not..an adult human even when I could be an adult in the Pokemon world?” 

“It’s milk. And nope, no solid food yet.”

Or so they’d guessed. The stranger had pegged Yuuto as being around three months old and they assumed Dmitri was the same. Better to play it safe than to risk the boys’ health.

Mikale was still following instructions on his phone as he prepared a bottle full of milk. The whole process was easier than he’d expected in some ways and harder in others. It definitely helped that Satou was there to be his check and balance. If he wasn’t careful, he started feeling like they were parenting together.

“ Our boys are still just a few months old. Isn’t that amazing? They’re so young.”

Wasn’t milk supposed to be in the fridge though? Not the stove. Maybe it could be made in the stove but..that’s more cream? Or was it something else..? And usually when there are babies, mothers provide the milk, not like this?? Which begged the question of who the real mother was. 

What kind of mother leaves their children? Sure some Pokemon do it, but she thought that humans wouldn’t...do that.

“Mm. Your brother Dmitri.” Mikale sensed the small change in her demeanor, which was enough to inspire action. He turned the stove down so that he could lift Humra up briefly in a hug. If he could solve all her problems for real then he would, but right now all he could do was give her hugs.

“So. I’ll finish making his formula.” He said as he released her, “It’ll take just a few minutes. Could you get a towel from the drawer?”

She nodded, holding back slightly, “Okay..yeah.” Humra released him too, listening to him, “Yeah. Of course.” She murmured and at once went to the drawer to search for a towel. A towel..and boiling something. The something was curious..she wondered if one day she’ll know.

“Those are great names, Humra.”

His response was quick. Not automatic, but something generated from honest approval. He thought for a moment about how these kids would relate to Humra. Whether this was a pre-show greeting or their new way of entering their lives, these kids would be Humra’s family… He knew that much from seeing the future, where Humra lived with the Yumeno couple.

“Dmitri is your…” Nephew? Cousin? Brother? It was confusing… But maybe it would help her get used to the idea of being part of the Yumeno family, not his trainwreck, if the baby was her, “… your brother, so I’ll teach you how to look after him.”

Something inside her seemed to lighten up. Especially at the word brother. Another brother..!

“No, no more Harry Potter.” 

But was he any better at naming people? He didn’t have any name ideas on the tip of his tongue… Glancing at Humra again, he finally decided, “What do you think his name should be?”

At the question, Humra looked to the side. Names...names...

It had been simple for Pokemon since she often named them after basic things. Like Bubbles..or Terra..or Mago..But human names seemed...different. A name..

He almost laughed at that. In some ways, it was refreshing to have a baby human and Pokmon almost compared in such a way. They were both living things, after all, and these babies would come to live and work alongside Pokemon someday. But still… It was strange, from a selfish human’s standpoint.

“They are, huh? Even Yuuto and the other kid are quite different.” A pause, before a realization–

“We should name the second kid before Satou can name him Harry Potter or Feet or something weird…”

Looking at him confused, Humra still didn’t understand who this ‘Harry Potter’ was..or ‘Feet’ for that matter. But she pondered a little, “A name..are Satou’s names that bad..? We don’t want a...Harry Potter..?” She blinked, tilting her head. 

“We’re using a special type of milk… Here, I’ll make some. “

Mikale offered a hand as he led her to the kitchen. Sometimes he forgot that Humra was some sort of “wild child” and didn’t know these basic things. Maybe this chaotic experience would have some benefit for her.

“Is this your first time seeing baby humans, Humra?”

She was led to the kitchen and soon watched intently as to what Mikale was doing, “Yeah, it is. They’re nothing like the baby Zangoose, or the Swablu or Lotad.” Glancing in the living room, Humra murmured, “They..kind of look odd, too. But..” 

“I can’t say I know for sure… But what’s important is that they need someone to take care of them for now.

Do you want to help? They’re going to need to eat soon, if you want to help feed them.”

“Sorry, Humra, this must be overwhelming… Are you okay spending the night here? I know the kids can be kind of loud…”

Its okay, I want to be where you are.

I can help too, everyone seems busy. But..why are there so many children..?
