WHAT COUNTS AS A MONSTER?
This is being left open to your own interpretation! It can include anything from werewolves, vampires, dragons, to monsters from non-western cultures, such as youkai. If you can make it work, you’re welcome to go for it! It’s also open to any genre. If you want to create something with horror, feel free. If you prefer something with humour, you can. If you want to include romance with a monster, go ahead. If you want to produce straight up monster porn, you’re welcome do that too. If what you want to create isn’t included in these examples, it’s allowed anyway.
There is a prompt post here for people to make prompts, which can be for a specific fandom, or open to any fandom/original content.
HOW WILL THIS EVENT WORK?
You’ll have roughly two months to create something monster-themed. Any type of work is welcome, from any fandom, and original work is also allowed. This is purely for fun, and the important thing is to enjoy yourself. If you miss the deadline, you can submit it even after October 31st. The collection will stay open until the end of November. You can post entries to the collection before October 24th if you wish, but they will be hidden and will be revealed on October 24th.
DO WORKS HAVE TO BE POSTED TO AO3?
While encouraged, it’s not necessary. If you prefer to post your work to tumblr instead, post it with the tag monsterweek2016 between October 24th and 31st, and it will be reblogged onto the tumblr page.
IS THERE A WORK MINIMUM/MAXIMUM?
For writing, there is a minimum word count of 500 words. There is no upper limit.
For art, there is a minimum size of 300x300 pixels. There is no upper limit.
HOW MANY WORKS CAN I SUBMIT?
Feel free to make as much or as little as you would like!
DO I NEED TO SIGN UP?
Not at all. This is open to whoever is interested in participating, and you are not obligated to submit a work even if you express interest.
If you have further questions, feel free to ask!
