“Well- No. I don’t really know. But like Papi, ground me, or send me to my room sometimes. I can’t rebel if I have nothing to rebel against. Mariposa gets grounded!”

“You wish for me to-- put you in the ground? Meteora-- I could never do such a thing to you! You are the most precious thing in our lives!” Obviously someone would have to explain what being grounded meant.

“My parents make it so hard to rebel! I try to sneak out to get my ears pierced and then before I can they take me to Claire’s to get them done. I try to play rock in my room my mom is playing her rock louder than mine!”

“I’m here, my pitch-black peony.” He smiled, all too eagerly leaning into the touches. He had been starved of her presence for three hundred years. In truth, he never thought he’d see her again-- and yet here she was. The way her eyes lit up when she smiled was magic.

It didn’t matter where they were-- or what they were doing-- he had her. He had her.

His arms slipped about her waist as he drew her close, fangs chewing on his bottom lip as he nervously took all of her in. It still felt surreal-- that they were together-- and that the kingdom was fine with it.

They finally found a place to be happy-- to be open about their love.

Leaning down he placed his forehead against hers, closing all four of his eyes as he inhaled deeply. Her scent was unmistakable. She smelled of potions-- of smoke and cinder. Now that he had her in his arms, he wouldn’t let go.

“That is the funny joke!” He slapped the skeleton on the back-- no doubt rattling his bones. Globgor often forgot his own strength. He was a giant of a monster, but as harmless as a kitten so long as he didn’t feel threatened.

In this realm of monsters-- he belonged.
