The Jackie Robinson West Little League team was the First All-Black team to win the National Championship. Unlike professional sports, these kids DID NOT cheat, did not take anything to make them play better, nor was any of them overage. They were stripped because some of the players didn’t live in the same area. The team’s manager and District Administrator robbed these kids of their moment in History. They falsified boundaries and tried to include areas that wasn’t in their area. To make it more clear, they didn’t pick kids from Chicago and Indiana, they picked kids in a nearby neighborhood and tried to include them as their own. The kids may have been 5 blocks out of their range to legally play, something the kids didn’t know. These kids earned the title by playing fair but because of the dishonesty of the Adults, they have to suffer the consequences. They will always be Champions in our hearts and will still be OUR National Champions whether they have a title or not.

for an industry that consistently uses “the numbers” as a way of denying black female artists their awards, i’d say kanye was rightfully upset that now, these same numbers were being ignored and suddenly, beyonce’s loss was about the “music”, and a white man’s irrelevant past accomplishments. besides, someone playing 14 instruments doesn’t mean they somehow have more artistry than a woman who uses 4 writers for one song (an idea that demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of how the R&B music industry even works), so really, there’s no reason why kanye west defending one of his closest friends in the music industry should be a shameful thing. like, if even beck can admit that beyonce should have won, which he did, i think yall should get your heads out of your asses.

Meanwhile on Fox News: Refusal to call the Chapel Hill shootings a hate crime, but no hesitation to label every crime committed by a Muslim a terrorist. No hesitation to say all women in a hijab should be jailed. No hesitation to spew hate against Islam every chance they get. 

So loved and respected. We are devastated, torn, and lost but Allah (swt) will guide us and watch over us. What happened last night is something I will never forget but I hope that I change as a person for the better and learn from these great role models.
