Slowly getting back to designing Greek gods, but starting with the minor ones for now because the Olympians are way too complex for me 😭
My headcanons about Hypnos and his sons, the Oneiroi:
• After his children were born, they took over most of Hypnos's duties. You could say he's basically just the official representative for his sons when dealing with the other gods now, though he still handles some of his original responsibilities.
• Only his mother and his twin brother have ever seen Hypnos's face. Others are simply not meant to see it, because if you did, you'd never be able to sleep properly again.
• The brooch that holds his cloak is the only gift from his mother, Nyx, that he keeps and truly treasures.
• The Oneiroi also hide their faces, following their father's example, but each for their own reason:
· Morpheus has no true face. As the god of dreams, he constantly shifts his appearance and has no single form.
· Phantasus literally has NO face. As the god of surreal and fantastical dreams, he often appears in them as an inanimate object.
· Phobetor does have a face, though it can change, just not as fluidly as Morpheus's. However, his true visage is so terrifying that his brothers gifted him a mask. It hides the horror and gives the visible parts of his face a more human-like appearance.
• Hypnos has 8 pairs of wings, Morpheus has 3 pairs, Phantasus has 2 pairs, and poor Phobetor has no wings at all :(
