Once upon a time, before a business trip, I was packing heartbroken because I was going to miss one of my kids’ school activities. My daughter realised that I was sad and in an effort to comfort me, she said “At least when you travel you can try to be only ONE thing”. What do you mean, baby? I asked. Then she explained... “Well, you’re a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, a boss, an employee, a friend, a nurse when we’re sick, a teacher when I need help, you know... all those things you do.” And if that was not enough, she finished with “It gotta be exhausting!” We hugged and I did cry a little to be honest, because I just wanted her to see me as: Her Mom.
