Like, what the actual hell did I just read?! It was rape. Straight up. And before I hear you all come at me with the “Well if you just don’t like it don’t read it🙄 it’s dark romance” it’s okay to criticize a scene in a book, or whatever you read or write. The amount of times I’ve seen people use this excuse to excuse bad behavior in books that romatize abuse is sickening. It’s fucking annoying when either the author or there little devoted fans tells you to fuck off because they can’t accept valid criticism. when I read the TW for Haunting Adeline and I read this line: Second, this is a dark book that includes stalking, non/dub-con, graphic violence, and sexual situations. A lot of sexual situations, guys. I’m a woman in love with her own characters, okay? I want to see his penis as much as possible. To me, it felt very, I don’t know, kind of arrogant? I’m glad she out the number for human trafficking number, but why only that number? Why not abuse lines as well? and why was it necessary to add the child trafficking… we could have just done stalking. But I felt she didn’t take this matter seriously because at the end was: So my dear reader, if you choose to go further, it is at your own risk. But on the other side, you may have also fallen in love. We call all hope, right? …fall in love with what? The book? If you like this book all the power in the world to you. I am not shaming anyone for enjoying it, it’s not immune to criticisms. The writing for me was cheesy and made me mad; especially Zade fucking Meadows. I can’t stand him. Now, I am a fan of dark romance like stalking, but it needs to be done well, which HA was not. A good example of this is the movie the Boy(2016 film) highly recommend. Why? It doesn’t romanticize stalking, it actually shows the horror and disgust. That’s the thing I want, that’s what should be done. But Haunting Adeline try’s to justify his actions by “oh well her body liked it,” which is just…disgusting. I really had wanted this book to be like the Boy, I had high hopes, but I was not given what Booktok recommended.

on a a side note, I want to shoot him in the eyeballs and cuff off Zade’s greasy little hands. I was so angry after reading that scene I couldn’t finish and threw it into a recycling bin. I’m gonna:
