Summer is in full swing and Mermaid sightings are common! 

Here’s a few sneak peaks from a recent shoot with the always lovely Mermaid Kairi. 

Last year I got to photograph so many beautiful Mermaids! And I am currently gearing up and booking sessions for another wonderful year of creating some beautiful images! 

With a few new projects on the horizon (details coming soon!) I am looking to fill up my photoing schedule with a bunch of new clients to help fund some amazing art projects I hope to accomplish by end of this year! 

As I have been swamped with projects I have been neglecting my blog :( 

So here is me apologizing by bringing you some fun Cosplay photo Composites! 

Starting with this amazing Star Trek Cosplay! As it is well known Cat’s are the preferred pet of intellectual beings ;) Spock and Data with their feline companions.

Halloween is quickly approaching and what better way to celebrate than with a countdown photo series!! Counting Down to the day of Spooks and Spirits I am setting up all sorts of fun photoshoots! 

Countdown day 1: The Witching Hour

My most recent Mer-shoot was with the lovely Mermaid Kairi and Mermaid Morganna. These to aquatic entrepreneurs are starting their own mermaid business and I had the privilege to take some photos for them. Pictured above are their gorgeous Finfolk Productions Mythic mermaid tails. 

We set the theme of the shoot as whimsical and classic fantasy mermaid. Using a natural waterfall and stream for our backdrop. 

There were lots of fun outtakes and shenanigans when two best merfriends get together! It was a joy working with these two, both of them are so light hearted and optimistic; really great at spreading joy and laughter. We had a beautiful day with some cloud coverage. The shifting clouds became a little tricky as it was constantly moving in the way of the sun and then back out again. 

Over all I am very happy with how the final images came out. The color saturation of the tails next to the natural environment really helped create some lovely moments.

During many of the underwater shoots that I do it is always a fun surprise to see what myself and the model can create. I always approach the shoot with a general look or theme that we want to achieve but once you are underwater actually shooting all communication comes to a halt and you have to trust that all parties will be able to create a beautiful image. 

There is something about shooting this way that I find incredible relaxing, letting the water take over and submerging. I basically give into the fact that my models understand how to move under water and hope I am fast enough to catch it with my camera. 

In this series I was playing with vintage gowns. The bright greens underwater really popped and created some striking images with the dress’s chiffon skirt. 

I really enjoy photoing brighter colors underwater as they tend to catch and carry the light better. The paler tones tend to get washed out and you have to deal with the model blending into the blueness of the background. Hopefully soon I will be able to photo in a spot where I will have the ability to sink in a darker toned backdrop to give me more control of the color and light hitting my models. 

Playing with the reflections of the model on the surface of the water is what I am usually trying to achieve. I adore capture the double image that the surface reflection makes. It creates an other worldly vibe that makes the models seem as if they are floating in an endless mirrored void. 

When preparing my models for these shoots I like to talk about the movement in the photos as dancing underwater. I am trying to achieve a weightless sense of motion. The aesthetic I am going for is ethereal.
