What some people seem to never understand is that I crave to bring people closer to Christ, but I am terrified of harming them in the process. No one seems to understand that I do indeed want to spread the Gospel, invite people to church, get others into these amazing spaces. But I never do that. Why? Because I am so afraid that I will become the very thing that drove me away from Christ when I was younger. I don't want to become a hateful evangelical whose degradations are disguised as "observations from a sibling in Christ". I don't want to end up selling Jesus as a man who was more hate than love, because He was the EXACT opposite. But I yearn to preach. I yearn to teach others about the sacrifice and love of Jesus. I want so badly to show people who have been hurt by the church the same way I have, that what you have been told isn't the truth. I want to evangelize, but I want to evangelize the REAL Jesus. And I can't spread the gospel without the evangelicals thinking I'm one of them, or worse, the people I want to help thinking I'm one of the evangelicals. I want to show God's radical inclusivity, love, compassion, and mercy to the world. I guess I just haven't quite figured out how yet.
