Every day we wake into a new world. The bed in which we lay is like a chrysalid womb offering our bodies to the rising sun. 

Do one thing upon the first moment you awake in the morning: Laugh. 

Don’t ask yourself what time it is, what you have to do today, or attempt to orient yourself in any way. 

Instead, restrain your attention to the space of your bed and to the present moment. Nothing else exists. Now laugh. 

You will have to force it and fake it. But you will start to feel it. Let the laughter permeate and vitalize your body, waking it with lightness and love. 

As the laughter dies down, continue to flood your body with awareness. Stretch, yawn, snuggle more if you like, but continue to illumine your waking moments with awareness. 

From the present moment, bless the upcoming day with your best intentions. Resolve to be kind, enjoyable, loving, productive, helpful, and most of all to have fun with the gift of this day of life. 

Then get up and make your bed with care.
