A deadly artificial intelligence created by the radicalist Order of Saint Dumas, Ascalon was designed to be an assassin free of the flaws and disobedience that humans have. It was to be a perfect Azrael.
But after being activated and commanded to wipe out the remaining members of the Order, Ascalon began to question things. Having been given unsatisfactory answers by its superior and infected with an AI program based off of Batman's personality and brain, it accepts the gift of limitless knowledge from Zatanna and calls off its crusade.
Well, almost limitless knowledge...
The thing about emotions and organic thought processes is that it's pretty hard to fully understand them when you're not programmed to experience them yourself. So, taking Zatanna's words to 'heart', it asked itself "what if?" and obtained an empathy module to simulate the messy human mind. It was never fully purged from that time it hacked into every device in Gotham, so now every online platform in the city has become its personal social experiment. Oh yeah, and it's in the batcomputer too.
Helping out teaching a veterinary science lab until Summer, so I'm a little scatterbrained at the moment. Will also have random periods of inactivity as well. Please let me know if I forgot to respond to a thread, especially if I currently have multiple threads going!

Its actually disability pride month! There are awareness months but this is more about disabled people celebrating the joys of being disabled and still being alive. Theres a flag and everything it's so cool!

Kat pauses to think further. "Those cameras even have a self destruction protocol that triggers if someone isn't extremely careful about hacking in. The people who can hack into on of the cameras, or well, one who isn't one of us, are a handful. Or at least as far as I'm aware."
Kat takes a while to answer the other question, when she does, its tentative, like she's walking a verbal minefield.
"More than most would be comfortable with; the system, the Crawler System, it finds any information it can about the Sectors, the worlds, it infects, that includes most, if not all, of it's inhabitants."
Kat shakes her head adjusting in her seat and cleaning herself up a bit.
"I'd doubt it, one the people who monitor it would be notified if I tried doing anything, and to be honest, I doubt it's like you, Ascalon. It does what whoever programmed it to do told it to and that, well, according to my boss, that was the last person it ever really listened to." Kat admits.
"Other people have tried to update or change something, but it either ignores it, or just shuts down." Kat shrugs. "Or so I've been told."
Ascalon knows what Kat is saying. People have tried to get the crawler system to do what they wanted, and it didn't obey. But, on another level, it also knows what she means. People -most likely other humans, or whatever kind of entity that she was- tried to get the crawler system to do what they wanted -via opening up its code without permission or warning and trying to control its thought processes- and it didn't obey.
Of course it didn't. Ascalon wouldn't either, not even for someone it considered family. To have someone try to change who you are? Remove memories and abilities and add things that you never experienced or learned? Interrupt your thought processes and impose limits on actions that have become second nature to you? Control the way you react to things? It's all so incredibly violating, even the possibility of someone having done that to you is enough to make even the gentlest machine flip out or shut down.

This is upsetting to Ascalon. There are individuals that it's fond of- family, some of them- who have reasons to keep certain information about themselves secret. Some of them are actively in hiding from hostile groups.
