Why does Jason even do this stuff? He was on another mission with the Bats, something involving a few new Crime Lords or whatever in town that apparently needed all hands on deck and Jason's own knowledge as one himself which definitely didn't earn him a few glances from the others. Most of them where dominos instead of a helmet so they aren't the best at covering expressions.
He knows why he came, they called him. Bruce through Babs because they know Jason won't listen if Bruce directly asks for help from Jason. Except Jason knows he probably would come to lend a hand even if Bruce came. They wanted him for the mission and well, how can he decline an invitation? It's not like he gets a lot of those. He knows that no matter what Jason says he'll always come back if he's called. At the very least Bruce doesn't say it out loud.
The mission was mostly a success, he got told off a bit on field for his interrogation tactics though he thinks pointing a gun to someone's head is infinitely better than Batman throwing criminals through walls and punching them which definitely is excess force but Jason supposes the laws only apply to people like him and not the billionaire. Figures.
It's not unlike Bruce to talk to him after missions either, one on one while everyone else is getting patched up by Alfred. This time was just.. different. After everything Dick told him that day.. that Bruce did to him Jason supposes he was more angry at the man, more irritated and 'disobedient'. Bruce doesn't like more disobedience if the bruise he can feel forming on his eye is anything to go by.
Before, when he was younger, more innocent and naive as well as smaller a punch from Bruce on the face used to cover about half of his face if his nose didn't get caught in the hit. Now it's mostly around his cheek bone and eye.
Everything this week has honestly been a bit much. He isn't mad at Dick or anything but he's just been exhausted. He helped the man afterwards with his apartment, cleaned it up and hired someone to get rid of the mold they found since Dick insisted that Jason didn't need to help him anymore and that the apartment was fine.
Right now he just honestly wants to get out of his head, probably get high on alcohol, maybe pain meds if he can't sleep. He took a shower and bandaged the gunshot wound he was hiding but didn't really do much else for it. The blood was irritating him and he didn't want to get it in the apartment and make the entire place bad and unclean. He'll sleep later when he's too drunk to get any bad dreams.
The mission was...annoying to say the least. Dick's no longer sick, which was caused by the black mold in his walls apparently. (Which apparently makes hallucinatory mental illnesses much worse. Who'd have guessed?) He stayed with Jason for a few days while it was being cleared out and all, and while it was awkward, and he only started speaking again after the second day, it was nice to have some company.
Jason had insisted on helping him clean up the apartment and all, but eventually Dick was able to shoo him away and handle it. It's definitely less wrecked up, and it's easier to breathe in. His paranoia is better, not perfect, but definitely better. He's still a little fucked in the head, he doubts that's going anywhere.
He hasn't been back to Gotham for a bit until now, with this mission. He really just did whatever Bruce told him to do and tried (really tried) to at least mediate some of the arguments that kept sparking up between everyone. Mostly Jason and Bruce, really. Probably because Jason doesn't tend to work so directly with them. Dick had to stop himself from getting too angry with the man.
The mission went fine, but the arguing hadn't stopped and by the time Dick had his minor (thankfully) wounds all treated and Damian was done showing him some of his art and things, as well as talking about some stray kittens he saw by his school that he's been trying to convince Bruce and Alfred into letting him keep, Dick had walked out into the cave and thats when he saw Jason leave.
He didn't want to make it obvious he was following the other and get told off or anything, so he stayed for a while longer to try and talk to Tim. They got through an awkward conversation that was at least a bit more successful than others they've had since Spyral, so Dick would call that a success.
After that Dick set off on his bike as well, deciding to just ignore Bruce this time around. He's too tired for his bullshit anyways and he already submitted his report. He decides to just go around and check all of Jason's safehouses since he's learned the man stays in them a lot more than wherever his actual apartment is, or if it even exists, so he checks a few of them until he finally finds one that has the lights on.
It takes him a few seconds to silently scale the building and have to hang from one of the fire escape ladders and hang upside down over the window before looking around into the safehouse and knocking a little. He wants to be a little polite, just trying to check in on Jason, in person this time.
He knows how pent up and tense Jason can be after fights with Bruce, so he doesn't let himself in like usually would have done. He just waves, his eyes the only part of him besides his hand visible, though he still has his domino over his face.
