Commencing your transition: as exciting as it is to become female, it's not as easy as it sounds. It's more than just wearing girl's clothing; you also have to live as a girl. This is where you need to create a transition roadmap.

What are some of the most important things you need to make in order to start your transition as female? The first three in no order can be summarized as: presenting as a girl, coming out as transgender, and starting feminizing hormone therapy. Depending where you live, these things are crucial in order to proceed to the next steps, which are gender affirming surgery and/or document changes for name and gender. Each person's transition path looks different, so only take these recommendations with a grain of salt. If you're serious on considering hormones to feminize yourself and if possible, please consult with a real and licensed physician like an endocrinologist to determine which hormones you should take. Hormone therapy is helpful in making effective results towards feminization of the body and even the mind. Don't be afraid of the last part as it only means mood changes and sexual exploration; it won't actually turn you into a bimbo. However, a transition isn't complete without goals. Ask yourself questions like these: What kind of woman am I expecting to become? How will I achieve those results? What do I need to give up and start now to make my transition effective? Will I become happier if I'm a girl?, etc. Also, allies are very important. You will definitely need them especially now as not all your close ones like family and friends will be supportive. Look for a network of LGBTQ organizations, groups, lifelines, and even online sites. Follow these steps and your new life will become easier to navigate!
