A creature that has been spotted infesting living beings and taking control of it's prey, then going to feast on the blood of other species similar to the host. The vines are how it drains blood, by stabbing into it's prey and slurping it up similar to a butterfly.

Infestation Process: When it sees a suitable host, this parasitic being will grip onto the victim while the vines extend to wrap both of them into a large cocoon. This cocoon is extremely durable, with many weapons unable to break it's defenses. It's used to shield the kin during the vulnerable process of taking control of the victim.

Once fully taking hold of the host, the vines will break apart and then it will hunt for blood and flesh to sustain it. Each time it gets injured, vines will sprout from the wound to pierce and drain blood and energy from any nearby enemies and prey. It also utilizes the host's appearance by hiding the vines to look more "approachable". This way, it can draw other similar species into a false sense of security. It even uses whatever memories the host has to gain more prey.
