“Uh sure.” That was probably not gonna happen on the regular - Oda barely trusted any mafia medics (Mori’s fault on this one) and his injuries were never so bad. If they were, Dazai would take him to an actual hospital.

He hissed a little when she pushed the antiseptic into the wound too hard - it stung and the blood dribbled again.

“I guess? I don’t know, up until like…two or three years ago no one took me to a doctor.” Sounded tragic, but it was the truth - most assassins in his group either treated themselves (and died from infections) either let themselves die from the bullet or knife wounds.

Kunikida noticed her stiffen when he mentioned that he worked for the Armed Detective Agency. It was strange but he didn’t think too much on it. He shrugged.

“I wouldn’t say it is interesting but it is stressful for sure.” Not stressful because of the job but because of the people he worked with especially Dazai. Sometimes it felt like he was taking care of overgrown children than managing an agency.

“You won’t get bored of it. We are usually busy. There is always a case to solve but my annoying coworker, Dazai would disagree. He claims it is boring because of the paperwork we do but that is still part of the job.” Just talking about Dazai was already making him annoyed.

“Honestly, that sounds a lot like my job.” Nelle figured that the conversation was going fine. If she just continued to treat this man like a random person she was chatting with, things would probably be fine. At least she hoped so. She didn’t want to deal with anything right now. 

Hmm, boring, he didn’t want to stay at his office because that would be a real easy way to find him and make him work when he didn’t want to put any kind of extra effort of his job. The executive was walking around the headquarters, trying to find a good spot to try another suicide method he has been thinking the whole day now. 

When he turned around into a corner, his only visible eye spotted a girl on the floor, she looked pretty—he decided to approach and see what might be his problem. “ are you okay? you look quite annoyed, and frankly, if you’re around this are that means …you’re new? “ he stated with curiosity.

Nelle flushed, surprised and embarrassed by being caught in such a state. How unbecoming. She scrambled back onto her feet, taking the time to straighten her skirt out before replying to the other. “Is it that obvious?”

Oda took advantage of her back facing him and rolled his eyes until he saw the back of his head. He hasn’t been babied since he was twelve - he definitely wasn’t gonna let a woman he barely knew baby him unless it was necessary. Like right now.

He let her ramble, thinking about Chuuya. That kid was really out there pretending nothing could hurt him…Maybe he could start looking after him discreetly, too.

She begins to clean and dress the wound, dabbing the antiseptic into the cut a bit rougher than was necessary. Honestly, if her patients would stop acting like spoiled brats and just let her do her job the world would be a happier place.

— The Fae tipped his head thoughtfully, watching the aggressive display with a hum. Even after the birds had taken her food, and her shouting had ceased, but the thick layer of misery littering the air had his nose upturned. 

— He fed on it. It was delicious, the current upset she was suffering…like a fine wine. Tasty.

❝ It’s no problem, really ❞ Edgar’s voice had faded into a soft whisper.

    ⇀   He was not really sure what else he was supposed to say, or do. He didn’t want to admit, after handing her his coat, he was freezing. She was obviously not in a good spot, making her feel guilt was not something he was willing to do. Instead he smiled. 

❝ if you want company, I could walk you home ? ❞ 

He must be cold. There was no way he wasn’t. Honestly she shouldn’t have accepted in the first place, and normally she wouldn’t have, but today... 

She stood up, shuffling a little bit closer to him than she normally would to offer him some kind of warmth. Maybe Nelle should head home now so she can give the man his coat back. 

   — Dazai watched as the woman arrived, took the bag back and blinked in surprise at hearing everything she said to the thief. It seemed like she was going to beat him to death or something like that with that bad mood, but luckily she was just yelling. Maybe it was better to intervene and separate them, also arrest the thief.

    ❝ Wow, why did you steal to a pretty woman? That’s very rude by yourself, man. ❞ he said looking at the thief and then at the woman, from whom he decided not to get too close just in case. ❝ Excuse me miss, if you want I can take care of him, I’m a detective and I’ve clearly been able to witness the act of attempted robbery. Also if you want, you can accompany me to leave him at the police station, he won’t bother you again. ❞ 

She jumped slightly when the other spoke up, seeming to realize what she’d done and curl in on herself a bit. A deep flush crossed her face, showing how embarrassed she was to be caught making a scene. Damn, she really hated attention. 

Being called pretty only made it worse, though it changed a bit of her embarrassment to irritation. Of course with her luck her savior would end up as some flirt or playboy. And the word detective struck a cord considering all she’s heard about that agency. She didn’t want to deal with this right now. 

“Mhm….” He had no idea how to continue from here so he just completed the sound with a nod. There were times, like now, when his brain just….stopped computing.

“Do you need any extra help? Or am I too invasive?” If the lady decided she would be fine, he could go his merry way.

「 ★ 」   ⋮    Ａ Ｎ Ａ Ｔ Ｈ Ｅ Ｍ Ａ．   ⋮  ━━   The   child’s   expression   was   completely   blank   as   unwelcome   hands   TOUCHED   upon   his   flesh.   It   was   clear   that   they   really   didn’t   like   that   at   all.   But   …   at   least   there   are   no   vocal   complaints.

                ’   I   guess   a   couple   of   days,   Harper   -   san.   I’m   surprised   Mori   -   san   even   SENT   someone   down   here   other   than   the   dumb   guards.   ’

                Was   that   the   reason   ?   Did   Mori   -   san   send   a   doctor   down   to   the   prisons   just   so   they   wouldn’t   get   the   guards   sick   ?   Perhaps   that   was   it.   After   all,   it   wasn’t   like   anyone   cared   about   their   own   welfare.   If   anyone   cared,   they   wouldn’t   be   stuck   in   this   horrible,   SUFFOCATING   cell   and   allowed   to   have   fallen   ill   in   the   place.    

                They   notice   the   marked   pause   at   the   end   of   the   woman’s   sentence   and   realize   that   they   had   to   introduce   themselves.   Apparently,   Mori   -   san   couldn’t   even   be   bothered   to   tell   this   new   doctor   their   NAME.

                ’   People   here   call   me   ’   Q   ’,   Harper   -   san.   ’

                Obviously,   that’s   NOT   their   real   name.   People   around   here   never   called   them   by   their   real   name.   After   the   introduction,   the   child   only   stares   at   the   new   doctor,   wariness   clear   in   their   eyes.   

                ’   …   What   are   you   going   to   do   ?   ’  

She sympathized with the dislike of being touched, especially by a stranger, and tried to keep everything as short and light as possible. Poor thing. Had they even seen a doctor before now? What happened in their life to land them in a place like this so young? Nelle shook her head a bit, refocusing on her task. They’d all been through hell to get here. That much was a given.

“Mori - san is a doctor after all, even if his bedside manner is lacking. He can see the danger of having someone sick around. Not to mention there’s been something really nasty going around the city.” There was no use in telling placating lies or insinuating that Mori cared in anyway. They both knew that just wasn’t true. 

“I asked for your name, not what people call you. It’s an important distinction.” Nelle stated firmly, her smile shifting to something just a touch closer to stern. To properly treat someone she needed to know he’d answer her questions the right way. Not to mention that it was important to her to know the child’s name, it might go a little way towards treating them with a bit more decency than everyone else around here. Most of the people here didn’t deserve this, but Q was just a child. Their judgement would be reserved for when they were grown.

“I guess.” Although he prefer sticking with the places he knew but sometimes he did try something new as long as he could fit it in his schedule.

“Yes. In fact, the cafe is in the same building as the office I work in. I work for the Armed Detective Agency. Sometimes our work can get stressful and my coworkers and I would go downstairs to the cafe a lot to relax there.” Although they would still go down to the cafe to relax even when they didn’t need to especially Dazai.

Instinctively she stiffens at the name, quickly scanning over the other person to gauge what her reaction should be. The Agency and the Mafia definitely didn’t get along, and while she was only a part of the agency as a medic she wasn’t sure if the would separate her from the rest in his eyes.
