Minnesota Hikes and Road Trips

Pictures of my most recent hike. I went to Yellow River State Forest in Iowa. They offer free camping all you have to do is register. It is a beautiful area.

Here are the rest of the “OK” photos I took on that hike. I took a really good nap before going into Lightroom to do some editing to the ones I liked.

Went back to Chester Park today. I found out that there was a longer hiking trail and I wanted to complete. I ended up completing it. Ended up doing 6.8 miles. It wasn’t a bad morning, it was around 34 F and little windy in the open areas of the trail. I am posting one of the pictures I took and the rest I will post them later tonight or tomorrow. I need to rest a bit first. Here is one of the pictures for now.

It has been almost a month since our last hike. For a few weeks the weather was very cold, it was on the negatives with lows of -35 F with the wind chill effect. Our dogs were going crazy without their walks. Today, we ventured into the Chester Park to do a very small hike. The temperature was around 32 F. It was not too bad. Our dogs loved the walk. Looking forward to going out more as the weather improves.

Today, my wife Charli and I went for a hike on Nerstrand Big Woods State Park. We hiked the Nerstrand Beaver Loop Trail. There is a waterfall in the park but at the time we were there it was frozen. We could still hear the water running under all that ice. It was a cold day, it was 19° F. It had snowed recently. The hike was tiresome since we had all of our winter gear on and the snow was heavy. We completed it regardless and we had fun in the end. We can’t wait until it gets warm so we can go back to it again and see the waterfall running.

This morning I decided to go on a hike on root river park. It is located in Olmsted County and it is about 15 minutes from Rochester. It is a nice hike, the loop is about 2.3 miles. It was a very cold this morning, the temperature was 5 Fahrenheit but it felt -11 with the wind chill factor. I almost gave out but ended out completing the hike.
