McLaren has been fined €30,000 (Equivalent to 34,566 USD for americans). Out of that 30k, 10k is suspended for 12 months. Apparently the team admitted to PURPOSEFULLY taping the CDS button in the car (essentially a button so the marshals can move the car off the track easier) 🫠

during marshal training last year they emphasized over and over again how dangerous it can be for a marshal to touch an f1 car that's "live" aka might have electricity going through it. these buttons on an f1 car aren't an inconvenience that teams have to add just bc the FIA said so. they're there for a reason. the reason is that intervention marshals can safely switch the car off and then put it in neutral to move it. we literally cannot touch a car if it's "live" or if we don't know its status. and even then you've got to wear heavy rubber gloves while handling f1 cars specifically BECAUSE of the risk of electrocution.

Is discreetly removing the tape a dick move? Yeah.

red bull was investigated and was found to be attempting to remove the piece of tape lando uses as reference for his grid box placement. u cant make this up.
