I bound this for an anonymous recipient for or the charity raffle over at the Pit. (Invite to the discord server, which is open to all Drarry fans.)

I'm quite proud of how this came out EXCEPT for one big dumb stupid mistake, but you know, like, that's what makes us human and that's what makes this book HAND-CRAFTED and ARTISANAL and not like MASS PRODUCED, right?!?

So. I designed it, printed it, folded it, punched it, sewed it, trimmed it, rounded it, backed it, lovingly sewed on the endbands and then I opened my press and WHAT IS THIS oh it's a signature. That belongs in the aforementioned printed, folded, punched, sewed, trimmed, rounded, backed, and endbanded text block.

So I punched it, trimmed it, and sewed it right into that text block where it belongs and can you tell?

Well, yes, a bit.

But otherwise it's PERFECT.

Cover is Skivertex, decorated with stencil and HTV.

Draco: We're naming him after the two men who actually cared for you like a son, not a pawn.

A wee paperback edition of one of my first binds! I made this as a bonus for @tackytigerfic as I sent them their copy of First Watch of Night (which I'll post photos of later). They had very kindly requested one of my fics as a bind when I insisted on adding something to the parcel, so I brushed up this typeset and converted it to a hasty paperback.

I had been reading the excellent Slippery Creatures trilogy (read it!!) so I had art deco vibes on the brain, which incidentally went well with the peacock and keys themes of the fic. I decided to try a peekaboo cover cut-out because this is such a fun feature of paperbacks of a certain era. I used a decorative peacock paper as the inside art. The outside cover is printed, laminated with soft-touch, and then decorated with gold HTV.

Design by me! Even the keys! I drew everything myself in Illustrator.

For the printed insides of the covers, I went with the faux-legal probationary agreement text from my fic summary, and just a repeating key motif for the inside back.

Spines and back covers in the interest of completionism. Also featuring the @renegadeguild logo since I finally got up the courage to join officially as a member binder. (Imposter syndrome, what up?)

I am a PASSIONATE commenter on fanfiction, but sometimes it slows down my reading because I don't want to read if I don't have the mental energy to leave the long comments I want to

Still, as an author, I know even a short note can mean the world.

So, I put together a little guide with different “levels” of comments, so it’s easier to leave something without overthinking!

copy pasting a particular line and your reaction to it is a phenomenal way to quickly provide specific, unique feedback!

it can even just be a keysmash or an emoji response to the quoted bit

authors have SO many micro decisions and careful word choices that go into the writing process and that they'll almost never get to see a specific reaction to

As a person with severe RSD and all kinds of enxiety, I can totally relate to that on the one hand, on the other, when I comment and don't get any feedback in turn, I over think everything, my enxiety levels go through the roof and I feel rejected not only by the author - but by the entire fandom. I know it's mostly I me problem but it's harder to balance nonetheless.
