Okay but can you IMAGINE if the earrings had gone to Alya like Marinette wanted them to?Ā
Instead of having a "designated responsible hero", Scarabella and Chat Noir would just be a pair of gremlins high on life because THEY'RE SUPERHEROES OMGOSH they would spend half their time geeking out and basically exuding chaotic sibling energy the entire time.Ā
They would reveal their identities to each other right off the bat because neither was paying attention when they were told not to, and Tikki just groans. Alya and Adrien quickly bond over being new kids at school who have superpowers, and everyone else is baffled.
Alya decides to try Clark Kenting and run the Scarablog, and Adrien is like "that's an amazing idea I'll help!" and shenanigans ensue. Marinette (who knows Alya is Scarabella since she snuck the earrings to Alya before any of this started) has befriended Alya as in canon but HASN'T told her that she knows her identity, so she gets dragged into the Scarablog staff and ends up doing most of the fieldwork and vlogging, desperately trying to do anything to cover up Scarabella's and Chat's identities (she knows Scarabella's, but doesn't know Chat's) while trying to avoid getting distracted by Adrien, who she's crushing on big time like in canon.Ā
For his part, Adrien gets totally enamored with Marinette because Ladybug isn't there to distract him and because Scarabella is already more sibling material than lover material, but he thinks Marinette dislikes him and his brand so instead tries to woo her as Chat Noir and more shenanigans happen.Ā
Nino, however, is low key crushing on Scarabella, and joins the Scarablog staff to try and learn more about her. Alya finds this amusing and kind of adorable, but doesn't really reciprocate for a while because she and Nino don't get locked in the zoo. She does let him investigate on his own, because she thinks pursuing the truth is a noble endeavor and in the meantime the blog can use his skills. Marinette starts silently screaming because GOSH DARNIT the identities are supposed to stay secret!Ā
Chloe is a huge fan of Scarabella and Chat Noir. She keeps trying to force herself onto the Scarablog team⦠But Alya is having none of it and throws her out. Chloe engages in spying shenanigans and tries to force Sabrina onto the team in her stead, but that just results in Sabrina getting character development.Ā
Lila shows up. Nino, desperately trying to learn more about Scarabella, falls for her lies hook line and sinker (sorry Nino, someone has to) but since Alya and Adrien both know each other's identities they see through her lies and (with Marinette) burst her bubble almost immediately. However, since Marinette actually has free time she can do her job as Class Pres and calm Lila down (a la zoe-oneesama's Scarlet Lady AU), and soon Lila shows up on the Scarablog's door offering to investigate Hawkmoth. Her main goal is fame and fortune, but eh Alya knows a good tool when she sees one. Chloe is fuming, and soon Lila gleefully engages in Spy vs Spy shenanigans with her.Ā
Fu is like "WHOMST IS SCARABELLA" and tells Adrien that Scarabella isn't supposed to be the Ladybug wielder and Adrien briefly angsts about it but is like "who cares have you met her she's literally a great hero and that's what matters"Ā
Fu is undeterred and keeps trying to give Marinette more miraculouses and she just keeps them in her room and doesn't use them

Summary:
When Adrien slips and breaks his wrist getting out of the shower, it definitely puts a damper on his date night with Ladybug. But that doesn't mean he's not prepared to flirt his way through the pain.
my life's goal is to make tumblr regret increasing the image limit to 30
anyway i haven't been able to get real-cat!plagg out of my head. (i blame @hamsternamedmarinette's post for making me think of my real-cat!plagg au again)
I know it'll never happen in canon but I'd kind of love it if Emilie had been brought back (No afterlife wife for you Gabriel) & not being an idiot deduced her husband was Hawk Moth.
& like at first she figures she should let sleeping dogs lie, she doesn't want Adrien or herself hated for stuff Gabriel did & everyone seems fine right?
"Say where's your little friend Chloe?"
"Oh we're not friends anymore, she's awful, she traumatized Marinette, became a supervillain and finally got banished with her mom. She was terrible since day one, I just never realized it."
"I ... See..." (Notices Nathalie's brief deer in the headlights look)
"You should meet Zoe, she's much better, Andre is much happier with her around!"
"I'll have to do that." (Strained smile)
Cue a drawn out and seemingly very happy meeting with Andre & Zoe, and Zoe feeling quite welcomed but needing to leave to go hang with friends.
Cue Emilie turning all business the second the door closes.
"Andre you knew about the Peacock Miraculous, why didn't you tell anyone what Gabriel was doing?"
"I couldn't be sure, gave him the benefit of the doubt and well, we all got a happy ending didn't we?"
"You banished your daughter?"
"She was abusing me, has been making me do horrible things she was a toddler."
"..." (The fuck!?)
Follow that up with a brief and gentle talk with Marinette, broaching the subject of Derision Trauma.
"Trauma? I mean Chloe sucked and I'm glad she's gone, but she never traumatized me."
"I see, Adrien seemed to feel differently."
"Sorry no clue what that's about, though... He's been awfully weird about spiders lately. Like he expects them to make me breakdown crying or something, I can ask him about that if you want."
"No need for that yet dear, now show me what you were working on." :)
(For those confused I am saying Lila basically orchestrated Derision, the only people in that pool room were Adrien & herself. Hence why it gets stuff wrong like Kim not being afraid of spiders)
Finally returning home to Nathalie she asks:
"Nathalie, I know you were Mayura, I know Gabriel was Hawk Moth, and I promise to only be mad at Gabriel if you tell me exactly what you two did to Chloe, and hell, everyone. I want all the detail. Now."
(Several hours later into Nathalie's -How we broke several teenagers minds- Seminar)
"What the fuck Nathalie?!"
"You promised not to be mad!"
"What did you expect me to say, congrats on breaking the minds of two teenage girls, one of whom just moved here & other being my god daughter!"
"To be fair, Audrey & Andre being terrible parents helped a lot there."
"You have no idea how little this is helping your case!"
Cue having to figure out how to fix this mess, if that is even possible.

Loosely based on the nobility and royalty of France (no decade in specific, more like an AU). Tom Dupain, Marinetteās father, was the only son of the Dupain barony when he married the daughter of a foreign salesman Sabrine Cheng. The old baron renounced his sonās right to the family fortune. They had to survive with only a title, no riches or luxury, only hard work, and a recipe inherited by the baroness of the best macarons in the whole Parisian high society. Marinette grew up kind and with a strong sense of justice. With her 21-year-old birthday coming around, the debutante party at the royal palace was approaching. Soon, all the ladies of illegible age would spend the most unforgettable weeks before the grand ball. Gabriel Agreste, Grand Duke, the brother of the king himself, mourns the duchessā death to this day, resulting in an obsession and overprotection of his only successor. A problem arises when the king requires the future duke to appear for the debutante or else he risks not being accepted as the heir of such an important role. When the two meet at the debutante, they have to conceal feelings and a magical secret that they can use to protect those they love.

Adrien Agreste was sitting alone in the cafeteria.
Again.
The sight made Marinette want to pull her own hair out. Hadnāt she publicly stated, as Ladybug, that Adrien Agreste was as much a victim of his father as anyone who had been akumatized? That in the end, heād shown remorse and helped her? Hadnāt she urged the people of Paris to embrace him, to give him a second chance?
Sure, she hadnāt exactly practiced what sheād preached, butāsheād excused herself as the exception. After all, no one had been more hurt by Chat Noir than Ladybug herself. No one else had felt the sting of betrayal or the sharpness of his claws the way she had.
So sheād told herself it wasnāt her responsibility to extend an olive branch more than she already had. Surely, someone elseāsomeone who didnāt have vivid memories of fighting against a boy meant to be her partnerāwould step up and be his hero. It wasnāt Marinetteās job.
Except, apparently, it was.
Because he was still eating alone.
If no one else was going to step up, then she had to.
The next day, she marched right up to his table in the cafeteria.
He looked up at her, wide-eyed and frightened.
āIām sorry, I didnāt know this table was taken. Please, let me move my thingsājust a few seconds, I promise.āĀ
Heād already started packing up by the time Marinette processed what heād saidāand the hunted look in his eyes as he said it.
āStop!ā
Adrien froze, instantly, then raised both hands in the air: the universal sign for āIām unarmed.ā
Marinette felt a pang of guilt. Snapping at him like she was apprehending a criminal was not the approach she was going for. So she tried again.
āI mean,ā she kept her voice as soft as she could, the way one would approach an injured stray on the street, āyou donāt need to move. The table isnāt taken by anyone except you.ā
Adrien nodded, his hands lowered slightly, but clearly still on guard for whatever sheād say next. She hated that, but she couldnāt blame him for expecting the worst when a girl heād never spoken to before arrived at the table.
Still, the idea of him being scared of herāplain-clothed Marinetteāfelt wrong. Heād never even been scared of Ladybug, though sheād had her fair share of nightmares about him.
āCan I join you?ā she asked.
He nodded again, but unlike the relief she expected at her question, his posture remained guarded and tense.
Did he not want company? Is that why he still ate alone?
She found that hard to believe. Chat Noir, even at his worst, had always been gregariousāoften trying to make conversation with her even as he attacked her. Thereās no way this same boy could be satisfied eating alone every day, with no one to talk to.Ā
He must just not know what to do in this situationāit was common knowledge, after all, that he hadnāt been allowed to go to school before this, not even a fancy private school.
Luckily, Marinette had come prepared with the perfect icebreaker.
So after she took her seat next to him, she pulled it out of the bag: two croissants, baked fresh this morning, and better than any of the baked goods in the cafeteria menu. She put one on his tray.
Adrien eyed it warily.
āItās for you,ā Marinette explained.
āYou want me to eat it?ā he asked, which she thought was a bit rude, but she supposed Hawkmoth wouldnāt have taken much time to instill his son with proper manners, so she decided to let it slide.
āYes, I brought it for you.ā
He nodded, then picked up his knife and fork like he was preparing for battle. He closed his eyes, breathing in deep, as if he were bracing himself.
Marinette had a hard time pushing back her annoyance at that. Not thanking her was one thing, but acting like her parentsā baking was some kind of chore to eat?
āJust eat it!ā She took a bite of her own, for emphasis. āItās good.ā
Adrien set his knife and fork down again, then gingerly picked up the croissant with his fingertips.Ā
Irrationally, Marinette felt her heart racing as he slowly inched it towards his mouth, like it was a design contest and she was watching the judges circle her piece.Ā
Which was stupid, because she wasnāt trying to impress him. She was just trying to be nice. It didnāt matter if he liked it or not.
But by the time his teeth sank into the croissant, she was on the edge of her seat.
He took a bite.
Chewed.
And swallowed.
Then looked at the croissant again, with wide-eyed wonder. Marinette couldnāt stop the smug, satisfied grin from spreading across her face.
Which quickly slid back down at his next words.
āItās⦠just a croissant,ā he said, and if he hadnāt said it with such awe and reverence, Marinette wouldāve chewed him out.
Instead, she was just baffled.
āWhat else would it be?āĀ
āNothing,ā he said, too quickly. āOf course itās a croissant, I justāthereās nothing else in it.ā
Marinette frowned. āWere you expecting pain au chocolat? Itās a whole different shape.ā
āNo, of course not, Iāā He stopped, then, and looked away, as if he was scared to say more.
And really, this whole exchange had been weird, from the beginning.
āAdrien,ā she said slowly, āwhy were you afraid to eat the croissant?ā
Because thatās what it had been, hadnāt it? Not ingratitude. Not snobbishness.
Fear.
He mumbled something into his lap in response. She couldnāt quite make out the full sentence, but what she did hear was chilling: ā...last croissant hadā¦. in itā¦ā
Just a croissant. Because heād expected her to put something in it.
Sheād known her classmates avoided him. But she hadnāt realized how bad it was.
When Marinette was 10, their class had gone on a field trip to the zooānot the one nearby, but the big one, on the outskirts of the city. Sheād been so excited that sheād packed her bag filled with everything she could possibly needāsnacks, sunscreen, her favorite magazines for the bus ride.
And then sheād been stupid enough to leave her bag unattended for a few minutes.
The memory of squeezing her bottle of sunscreen in the heat of the day and having a dollop of mayonnaise fall into her hand instead had never left her. It hadnāt been the worst prank Chloe had ever pulled, but the scent of mayonnaise thatād been sitting in the sunāsour and rancidānever left her.Ā
She still smelled every bottle she opened now, years later, even ones she knew no one else had touched.
She didnāt know what had been in the last croissant he had been given, but she knew exactly why heād been waryāwhy heād tried to go in with a fork and knife first.
What she didnāt understand was why heād drop them and eat it with his hands anyway, if thatās what he expected.
āWhy did you take a bite if you thought Iād put something in it?ā
āBecause you told me to,ā he whispered.
Marinette blinked, disbelieving. Heād blindly taken a bite, expecting the worst, because sheād told him to? Even at the peak of her victimhood, before sheād learned to stand up and fight back, Marinette had done her best to avoid falling into any traps she could see coming.
āWhy?!?ā she all but shouted. āWhy would you just let someone do that to you?ā
His answering smile was brittle. āAs long as Iām willing to play the victim, they donāt see me as a villain.ā
Marinetteās stomach dropped in horror as he continuedāas she realized the true extent of what sheād let Adrien Agreste go through for weeks, while sheād turned the other way and told herself it was someone elseās problem.
āWhen I first came to school, no one wanted me here. They didnāt feel safe, even though Ladybug assured everyone I was powerless now,ā he was looking away, now, voice hollowed out like his insides had been scooped out, āFor a while, I was scared theyād make me leave school. But then, they started playing pranks. And after theyād play one, theyād laugh at me, and it hurt at firstāit still does, butāone day, I realized, when they laughed and taunted, they didnāt look scared of me anymore. So, I let them. If this is what it takes to stay, for them to feel safe and accept my presence here, Iāll eat whatever they serve me.ā
Her insides churned at the thought of himāsitting on the ground, surrounded by the faceless peers laughing, and somehow deciding that was for the best.
āWhy would you want to stay, when everyone treats you like that?ā
Why would he want to stay, when no one had shown him even an ounce of kindness?
Adrien shrugged. āItād be the same anywhere, probably. Andā¦ā
āAnd?ā she prompted, reaching out to lay her hand on his white knuckles gripping the edge of the table.
He turned a wistful smile to her now. āIāve always wanted to go to school. To be with other kids and make friends. My parents wouldnāt hear of itāthey said it wasnāt safe, that the kids Iād meet at school werenāt worth knowing.ā
Something in her heartāsome wall that sheād built up after that second battle with Stoneheartācracked.
āI canāt let him be right,ā Adrien confessed, his own voice breaking with the weight of it.
Sheād been wrong before, when sheād thought heād sounded hollowed out. Maybe his father had hollowed him out before, to better fill Chat Noir with Gabriel Agresteās own darkness, a croissant ruined by something unsavory shoved inside.
But this Adrien wasnāt hollowed out.Ā
He was carved into. And heād submitted to it, willingly, just for a chance to stay.
Luckily for Adrien, Marinette did two things better than anyone else in Paris: proving Adrienās father wrong and rebuilding what has been destroyed.
au where ladybug from the future uses bunnixās power to go back to the past because she needs to revisit an older akuma to figure out how to beat a new one and so she needs to see how her younger self does it
and she does her best to stay out of the way, but at some point she runs into chat noir as he is in the past and they both sort of freeze looking at one another, and then ladybug pulls chat into a hug and she says,
āyouāre still okay. Iām so glad youāre still okay.ā
and chat noir doesnāt really understand, but he hugs her back, knowing deep down in his soul that this is his lady, one and the same as the ladybug fighting an akuma right now
and ladybug, standing there- she remembers now, this particular akuma. she remembers how chat noir had been late to arrive, but he came with the answer to defeating it. she remembers that he looked a little more subdued, and that a tthe end of the fight, he had hugged her instead of their normal fist bump, something he only did on rare occassions.
she knows why, now.
so she tells chat noir how ladybug will need him to stop the akuma, and how to do it, and she pushes him on his way before he can question anything at all
she should go back to her own time, she knows. her job there is done.
but she canāt help sticking around just to make sure everything goes the way itās supposed to, and-
and she wants to see herself fighting alongside chat noir one more time
she sees them win the day, and sees that hug, and she sees chat noir look up and meet her gaze, just before she turns away and calls on bunnix to pull her back to the future.
itās a future where she fights with other heroes, her friends from grade school- but not chat noir.Ā
because in her present, her chat noir died years before, protecting her from hawk moth- his own father, at the time, though the brooch was stolen by someone more vicious- and she could never stand to give the ring up to anyone else.
she keeps it with her, though, always. on her finger, so plagg can see tikki and the other kwamis. so that every time she fights a new akuma, she feels him fight beside her, a constant, even when heās gone.
seeing him when he was younger bolsters her resolve, and she looks down at the ring on her finger. she detransforms and looks at plagg.
āwe need chat noir to win this,ā she says.
plagg smiles, though itās a little sad still- just like hers.
āyou always did.ā
āyeah. I did.ā
and then she transforms, and it feels like coming home.
when the battle is won, marinette goes home, where she greets and cuddles the cat she and adrien had picked out together
she looks at their old pictures, still scattered around the apartment, because even when he passed, she couldnāt quite let go of him, couldnāt move on from the influence he had on her life, how much better she was for having had him at all
she makes dinner- too much. itās a bad habit, one she hasnāt been able to break. she sets two plates, out on the little table on the balcony, and she looks out at the city, taking it all in
āwe won today,ā she says, twisting the ring on her finger. (thatāsĀ a habit she picked up from him).Ā ājust like always.ā
thereās no one there to respond, tikki and plagg inside resting.
but adrien is there with her. she feels it in her soul. heās always with her, but itās in the quiet moments, when the world around her sleeps and recovers, that sheās most sure of it.
theyāre the times when she never feels more alone, and when she knows sheās truly alone at all.
after a long moment, sheāll continue, speaking to him.
āweāll win tomorrow, too. and the next day, and the day after that, until weāve won for good.ā
after awhile, it begins to rain. she takes up an old umbrella, the one that started everything, opening it and holding it over the table so that she can finish eating, but as she does so, for the briefest moment, she sees him again
theyāre thirteen, and his eyes are sad, but kind. her heart skips a beat when he laughs and smiles at her.
and in another, theyāre twenty
heās more himself than ever before, happy, with love shining in his eyes. thereās a second ring on his other hand that matches the ring she wears. she knows that theyāre meant to be, that heās her best friend and the love of her life.
the memories fade as quick as they came, the ghost of her love leaving once more
she finishes dinner and brings the untouched plate in
āgoodnight, adrien,ā sheāll say when sheās finally ready for bed, brushing her lips over an old and worn picture of him.Ā āi love you.ā
when she closes her eyes, it isnāt long before she sees him again, and dances with him through the streets of paris, pulling him down into a kiss by the blue scarf he always wore.
she smiles in her sleep
and misses it when adrien, glowing dim in the dark of the room, places a quick kiss on the back of her hand.
āSo Emma had a presentation at school today.āĀ
āSix year olds have presentations?ā Marinette chuckled, putting her briefcase down and leaning up to give her husband a quick peck on the lips despite their daughterās protests of disgust.Ā
āYou wanted her to go to the frou-frou academy; this is what you get,ā Adrien said, tossing a towel over his shoulder as he turned his wife to face their daughter.Ā āHey Em, you want to show Mama your presentation?āĀ
āNo,ā Emma said softly, not even looking up from the small castle of dolls she was building.Ā
āOh come on, honey,ā Marinette pleaded, leaning over the couch.Ā āPlease?āĀ
Emma looked thoughtful for a moment before standing up and padding towards the door.Ā
āOh, we also have a parent-teacher conference tomorrow after school,ā Adrien said, gracefully flipping over the couch and landing cross legged as he awaited Emmaās return.Ā
āWait, what?!ā Marinette said, crawling onto the couch with her husband.Ā āWhy?! What did Emma do?! If itās about that kid who keeps pulling her pigtails, then-āĀ
āAhem.ā Marinette looked up to see Emma standing on the coffee table in front of her, a stern look on her face as she tapped her foot.Ā
āS-Sorry, honey,ā Marinette chuckled, sitting back against the couch.Ā āGo ahead.āĀ
āThank you,ā Emma said, pulling a large piece of construction paper out from behind her back.Ā āWhat My Parents Do; By Emmaā¦ahemā¦most mamas and papas have jobs in big buildings or in small shops. There are many kinds of jobs, but my mama and papa have the best jobs in the whole city.āĀ
āAw,ā Marinette cooed, leaning against her husbandās shoulder.Ā
āOh wait; it gets better,ā Adrien said, crossing one leg over the other as Emma continued.Ā
āSome moms and dads are bakers,ā Emma read.Ā āSome moms and dads fight fires. Some moms and dads make laws. But my mama and papa have the most important jobs of all becauseā¦āĀ
Emma turned the paper around with a beaming gap-toothed smile, revealing a clumsily drawn crayon Emma standing between two very familiar looking superheroes.Ā
āMy mama is Ladybug and my papa is Chat Noir!ā Emma said proudly as the color slowly drained from Marinetteās face.Ā
āTold you it got better,ā Adrien said through a forced smile as he applauded his daughterās performance.Ā
āMmhmm?ā Emma asked, not looking up from her drawing of a Tyrannosaurus eating a giant chicken with a snake tail as her mother crouched down beside her.
āUm, about that presentation you gave at class today,ā Marinette said, glancing over her shoulder at her husband leaning against the door frame. āY-You know what mama does for a living, right?ā
āMmhmm,ā Emma nodded, still not looking up from her artwork. āMama designs pretty clothes.ā
āThatās right!ā Marinette said, letting out a small sigh of relief. āThatās right, mama does pretty clothes-ā
ā-and fights bad guys,ā Emma continued. āBecause mamaās also Ladybugā¦ā
āEmmabug,ā Adrien said, kneeling down and ruffling his daughterās hair. āI know you want people to think youāre cool-ā
āI am cool,ā Emma said, narrowing her eyes at her father.
ā-but you canāt go around making stuff up like that, honey,ā Marinette said. āYou need to tell the truth.ā
āBut I am!ā Emma protested, glancing between her parents. āMama and Papa fight bad guys and save the day and stuff.ā
āNow who told you that sweets?ā Adrien asked.
āNobody told me,ā Emma huffed, crossing her arms. āI figured it out all by myself!ā
āEmma, you canāt go around telling people your parents are superheroes,ā Marinette sighed, sharing a look with her husband. āPeople will think youāre just making stuff up to get attention.ā
āYou sound just like Mme. Raincomprix,ā Emma grumbled, gathering her crayons and drawings and flouncing out of the room, doing her best to slam the door behind her.
Marinette sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. āWhat are we going to do with her?ā
āCanāt blame her for being smarter than her parents were at fourteen,ā Adrien chuckled, rubbing Marinetteās shoulders. āHopefully the fact that she decided to tell the world at six instead of sixteen means nobody is going to believe her.ā
āSo what are we going to do about her teacher?āMarinette asked. āGet Alya to make an illusion of us to swing by the window when weāre in the conference?ā
āI think I have a better ideaā¦ā
āSo sometimes weā¦like to dress up as Ladybug and Chat Noir,ā Marinette said with a sheepish smile as she squeezed her husbandās hand.
āFor fun,ā Adrien said. āAnd weāre worried Emma may have seen the costumes in our closet and assumed-ā
āAdrien, I didnāt call you two here to talk about Emmaās presentation,ā Sabrina said, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose. āI mean, sheās not even the only one who gave the āmy parents are Ladybug and Chat Noirā presentation. Children at this age are veryā¦imaginative.ā
āSoā¦what are you here to talk to us about?ā Marinette asked.
āIām sorry! Iām sorry! Iāll give it back!ā
Adrien and Marinette looked out the window to see their daughter chasing a much larger boy around with a yardstick and a pink and white pokladotted blanket tied around her neck like a cape.
āCrime doesnāt pay, evildoer!ā Emma shrieked, whacking the boy in the shins as he tossed a stuffed bunny back towards a crying child on the edge of the playground.
āMMe. RAINCOMPRIX, SHEāS DOING IT AGAIN!ā The larger boy wailed as he ran past with Emma hot on his heels.
āFace justice!ā
āā¦she calls herself the Bully Hunter,ā Sabrina sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. āAs you can see this is something of a-ā
Sabrina looked up to see Adrien and Marinette hastily hiding gigantic grins behind their hands.
āBig problem,ā Adrien coughed.
āWeāll talk with her,ā Marinette chuckled nervously.
āYes,ā Adrien said at the same time, squeezing another squirt of whipped cream on top of Emmaās coco. āThis is punishment coco; you cannot enjoy it.āĀ
Emma stuck an already chocolate covered tongue out at her father.Ā
āSweetie, we need to talk about your littleā¦superhero game,ā Marinette said, taking a sip of her coco.Ā
āFighting crime isnāt a game,ā Emma said seriously, glowering at her mother.Ā
āIs stealing a bunny really a crime?ā Adrien asked.Ā
āWhat was I supposed to do?ā Emma asked, leaning back as she tried to lick whipped cream off her nose.Ā āHe was being a total butthead!āĀ
āHoney, there are a lot of buttheads in the world,ā Marinette chuckled.Ā āToo many to go around whacking with a ruler.āĀ
āI wouldnāt have to use a ruler if you would get me that samurai sword I keep asking for,ā Emma mumbled.Ā
āNot making a good case for yourself, kid,ā Adrien said, ruffling Emmaās hair.Ā āJean may have been a major butthead, but it isnāt your job to take care of him; you should let a grownup handle it.āĀ
āMme. Raincomprix never catches him in time!ā Emma protested.Ā āSomeone has to clean up the playground! Someone has to stand up to evildoers!āĀ
āWeāre not saying you shouldnāt stand up toā¦evildoers,ā Marinette coughed.Ā
āJust that you shouldnāt go whacking peopleās knees because they took someoneās toy,ā Adrien said.Ā
āMaybe he should stop taking toys then,ā Emma muttered.Ā
āSabrina, er, Mme. Raincomprix is going to have a talk with him,ā Marinette said.Ā āSo you can probably hang up the cape now that the evil is getting detention.āĀ
āYou didnāt,ā Emma muttered.Ā
Marinette shared a look with her husband over Emmaās head.Ā āEmma-āĀ
āCan I go play now?ā Emma asked, picking up her coco and snagging a cookie from the tray on the table.Ā
āā¦I guess we can talk about this later,ā Marinette sighed, rubbing her forehead as Emma hopped off the couch, flouncing up the stairs as loud as she could.Ā
āā¦so how did she figure it out?ā Adrien mused, leaning back and taking a sip of his coco.Ā
Marinette said nothing, staring at the tray of cookies on the table.Ā āā¦when did Emma start liking shortbread?āĀ
āDo you think they suspect anything?āĀ
āUh uh; they think Iām just making it up.āĀ
āGoodā¦try not to talk about it too much. I shouldnāt have told you.āĀ
āSāokay. I know how to keep a secret.āĀ
āSpeaking of secret, do you have the secret stuff?āĀ
The closet door opened and Emma glanced up to see her parents standing over her just as she was about to pass the shortbread to Tikki.Ā
āSo this is how youāve been sticking to your new diet,ā Marinette said, narrowing her eyes at her anxious looking kwami.Ā

No one can deny that an akuma with the power to pull peopleās future selves to the present has a ton of troublemaking potential. Even if they donāt mean to, people from the future can accidentally give too much away.
How much will the Future Ladybug and Chat Noir spoil?
a concept: following the leads to find the kwamis, gabriel found himself in front of fuās massage parlor. in order not to raise suspicions of his actual purpose, gabriel claimed to suffer from chronic back pain and required a massage.
fortunately, since fu never let go of his suspicions that gabriel was mothy, he figured the latter was here for a different reason altogether. nevertheless, he played along with gabrielās story and provided his service as requested.
throughout the sessions, fu performed various massage techniques, claiming that it would help reduce gabrielās back pain. there was concern when gabriel couldnāt feel his limbs but fu reassured everything was fine.
(obviously, it was a lie)
between the sessions, gabriel took the time to study fuās massage parlor and noticed the gramophone, wondering if it was significant to his reason of being there but fu also noticed what gabriel noticed and he was cautious.
eventually, they ended up having a tug of war when gabriel tried to steal the gramophone away from fu, resulting in both dropping their pretenses.
Fu wins. His āmassage techniqueā was actually acupressure on multiple pressure points that numbed Gabrielās nerves and severely hampered his ability to move, fight, and especially to lift things. This gives Fu enough of an advantage to delay Gabriel until the police that Wayzz called for arriveā¦
ā¦JUST IN TIME to witness Gabriel Agreste of all people trying to make off with an old Chinese manās gramophone. Fu plays himself off as the poor weak store owner who was being robbed. Gabriel cannot explain what he was doing there or why he was taking an old manās gramophone. Attempts to claim it was originally his fall flat since Fu has proof of owning the gramophone and a receipt from the antique store he āboughtā it from years before. Attempts to claim he bought it also fail since there is no evidence of a monetary transaction.
Gabriel is carried out of the shop by police and taken to jail. He manages to post bail and return to the mansion, fully intending to use this new knowledge to send an akuma after the Guardian directly. He realizes too late that in the scuffle, the Butterfly Miraculous was knocked loose and confiscated by police as āevidenceā.
Fu presses charges. This drags the case out and prevents the Miraculous from being returned to Gabriel.
Photographers and journalists catch wind. Gabriel Agreste attempting to rob an elderly immigrant over an antique is the scandal of the year. His company suffers a HUGE hit. His stocks drop. Models, designers, photographers, and other employees decide to look elsewhere. People refuse to even touch the Gabriel brand.
Adrien is completely ashamed of his father. He refuses to speak to him, wonāt come out of his room when theyāre both at home, and hides his face in public. He attempts to do this literally by going around with a paper bag over his head. The paper bag has a little sad face cut into it to emphasize Adrienās disappointment. Nino, Alya, and Marinette eventually manage to talk him into taking it off. Itās mostly because Marinette bribes him with food and he finds itās difficult to eat with the bag over his head.
Marinette is confused. Just all around confused. And while she understands the necessity of it, she hasā¦concerns about Fu having her make a fake butterfly brooch and everything about breaking into a police station to steal the real Butterfly Miraculous and switch the two. She manages it with use of Trixx and successfully retakes the Miraculous along with a very, very happy and crying Nooroo, who is not giving up the first affectionate person heās seen in a year thus wonāt stop clinging to her and nearly gets them both caught. They make it to Fuās safely, butā¦yeahā¦morally and ethically questionable.
But at least Noorooās back and safe. Hawk Moth wonāt be making any more akumas. Paris is free of evil butterflies. And Gabriel is under a court order to receive some long-overdue therapy.

Of course, as per usual, she was delayed by several shortcomings, including not making her mind on how the pastries were turning out. In the end, she stopped fussing and ran out the door, arriving twenty minutes later than she would have liked.

Family by Design
Adrien hadnāt expected to need to lean on his friends assistance again quite so soon, and he was glad heād gotten all their contact information when he moved. Gabriel had apparently been notified of the changes in his joint minor bank account, and had tried contacting Adrien by phone. When none of that yielded a response, he and Nathalie had returned Paris ahead of schedule.
Adrienās lawyer, bless his soul, refused to contact him over the weekend because it wasnāt an emergency and didnāt justify that sort of rush. Heād heard enough about Adrienās reasons for leaving home and severing his contract that he had a good handle on the nature of the situation. Ā Heād called first thing Monday morning to help set up a meeting. Nino and Max had come through with the perfect place for the meeting. The room was at the center of a Faraday cage, blocking cell and remote surveillance. Plagg and Tikki offered to attend to any on site recording gear.
Since Adrien had been adamant about the location, heād been willing to go along with Gabrielās requirement that they meet alone, with his lawyer waiting outside the door for any legal negotiation or discussion that may play in.
āThis absurd charade of rebellion has gone on long enough,ā Gabriel said sharply. Ā He was as stiff and cold as ever. Not once had he asked how Adrien was doing, or feeling. āI expect an immediate adjustment of your attitude, or you will find your personal liberties severely curtailed.ā
āIām not a child, and Iām no longer caving to your whims,ā Adrien said, presenting himself as an immovable frozen wall, something heād learned from Gabriel. Ā Only one of them had any acting experience, so he knew it was effective.
