I really wanted to make some art about this fic, it’s so beautiful!

Mike’s character development in it is exceptionally well written and the poetry is a very powerful vessel for his feelings

I saw you today not in a memory not in the soft distortion of missing you but real breathing the same air I was trying not to choke on

You were laughing

god, I forgot that sound how it used to belong to me how I used to be the reason your shoulders shook like that

Now it spills out for someone else like I was just practice

They stood too close to you like they knew things I used to think were mine forever the way you tilt your head when you listen the way your hand searches for warmth without thinking

And you found theirs

Not anymore

I wanted to look away but heartbreak is a cruel kind of loyalty it keeps showing up long after its been dismissed

So I watched as you existed perfectly fine in a world that no longer had room for me

You didn't even see me

And somehow that hurt more than if you had

Because it meant I'm not a wound to you not even a scar

Just something that healed without leaving a mark

I walked away quietly like I was the one intruding on a life I used to belong to

And it hit me with a kind of silence that screams
