Cosette is very much influenced by her external environment and upbringing. Her years of neglect at the hands of the Thénardiers made it hard for her to adjust to a new life with a loving father with Valjean at her side; being so used to do the cleaning, she was baffled when Valjean told her she could play and study like any normal child. She’s inquisitive about her past and wants to understand it since she doesn’t have a real memory of her mother. Her subjective perception of her encounter with Marius allows her to romanticize it and think they were soul mates meant to meet right then, likewise as a child she fantasizes about an idealized castle on a cloud where she can be safe from her harsh circumstances. She doesn’t like guessing much into what’s going on around her, the circumstances surrounding Marius and her father, taking things at face value and is easily worried by uncertain events (whether she will have to move to London with her father and leave Marius forever).
Extroverted Feeling (Fe) / Introverted Thinking (Ti)
Cosette’s emotions are mostly influenced by others, she easily trusts Valjean when he’s warm to her, helps her with her chore and buys her the beautiful doll she had been admiring despite being initially wary of him because he’s the only person who has shown her kindness as far as she can remember, since she has no memory of her mother and doesn’t get to know about her loving sacrifice until Valjean gives her his letter before his death. She’s very sensitive to others’ opinions of her as upon hearing a comment by a passerby on her looks, an interest in improving her image is sparked and she realizes she is indeed beautiful, after being considered just plain before. She mirrors Marius’ own deep emotions for her and she is devoted to taking care of his wounds and comforting him after the revolution. She’s inquisitive and wants know more about her past. Cosette questions how falling for Marius so fast is possible but doesn’t think too much about it since it makes sense to her and she just knows she’s found the person she’s meant to be with. She is quick to act once she realizes there’s a possibility she might not see Marius again and writes a letter to him about it immediately.
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
House Traits: hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Cosette would feel at home in the house of fairness and hard work, qualities she holds in a very high regard. Once she’s free from the Thénardiers’ clutches, she is eager to do the housework and it takes Valjean assuring her she needn’t to turn her attention to leisure, study and play. She naturally takes a care taker role towards others, particularly Marius and Valjean and is devoted to social causes and helping the needy as seen in her eager participation in her father’s charitable actions. The mistreatment she received as a child makes her want to comfort and help others who have been in similar circumstances.

Cosette doesn’t have much of an agenda of her own and is content with being and doing what others expect from her. She wouldn’t have minded to stay at the convent and become a nun, even without knowing her father and her were safest there, and in fact she probably would have hadn’t Valjean wanted to give her a chance to experience the world by herself and make her own choice, which proves to be for the best as she wouldn’t have met Marius otherwise.
She is distraught by conflict, especially since she had to deal with it frequently while she was with the Thénardiers, so she found solace in imagining a peaceful “castle on a cloud”, where “crying at all is not allowed” and “nobody shouts or talks too loud” as an escape.
As a sexual 9, she finds it easy, natural and pleasurable to have a special person to merge with: first Valjean, then Marius. As a social second, she is concerned with her role in society and her responsibility in regards to those less fortunate than her; it is also shown in her wish to have a hundred boys and girls in her imaginary castle. Her self-preservation blind spot lies in her inability to set boundaries and stop focusing so much on others.
Under stress, she disintegrates into 6 becoming anxious and nervous which prompts her to find a way to make sure she doesn’t lose Marius forever.
She integrates into 3 when she grows from “the child who is lost in the wood” into a mature woman in control of her life and destiny, through asking Valjean to trust in her with his secrets and in her choice to become Marius’ wife.
