It's an amazing movie, I had to hold my pee for 3 hours because I didn't want to miss anything

But for being a retelling/adaptation... idk most iconic scenes got removed, and Odysseus doesn't feel like Odysseus... he's just a depressed old man, grumpy all the time

It's an anti-war movie, and the Odyssey isn't it

And whatever the hell is going on with the costumes bro, I hate every single one, especially the armors, they look like they're made of plastic or something

And Agamemnon looks so freaking funny and silly I don't feel the gigachad aura people praised at all, and he didn't do anything, why is he on the poster of the ODYSSEY 😭

It's an amazing movie, I repeat, for being a thriller, horror, anti-war, adventure, dark fantasy, psychological, and depressing movie, but it's not a good adaptation of the Odyssey at all

I also think it's why Veronica chooses to connect with Martha at the end of the film (I also believe Veronica is passively suicidal with her recklessness/self harm habits). While I do think it makes sense when adapting it to the stage to give Martha a larger role as the "childhood friend", the movie has the space to depict this when Veronica talks to Martha (over Betty or another minor character) when finally rejecting the Heathers clique.

And Martha is one of those kids that people expect to be suicidal, Heather Duke even has dialogue referencing this directly. This is because they believe her life is worthless and that she is so hideous that she deserves to be punished for existing.

It's so expected and reinforced that she hate herself and be suicidal that no one cares. That's not a cool headline like Heather Chandler and Kurt & Ram killing themselves is.

In a similar way, I think people in the fandom aren't as interested in her suffering as they are in Heather McNamara, Heather Chandler, JD, and Veronica. I just think it's kind of bogus to say that Martha wouldn't have still been an at risk teen due to the treatment she received from her peers and the adults that were meant to take care of her.
