Introduction!!

Hey y'all, I'm Misty Mountains, but you can call me Misty!

I am a digital artist (and part-time writer) of many fandoms such as Hermitcraft, Empires SMP, POW Creations, Multiverse Tales, LOTR and the Hobbit, Cookie Run Kingdom, and the list goes on!

I have a youtube channel where I goof around in Minecraft and try to be brave in the caves (I'm not).

I strive to be an example for what God wants me to do, one drawing/video at a time!

Trying to animate something, I think it’s going well? (Have only done the sketches and only spent the day doing it)

Not sure how to do editing for it though, since I’m doing it in Procreate…

Got tips? Plz help

I use ProCreate a lot myself. What I do for my practice of animating (I’ve only successfully done one animation and it isn’t much lol) is I get the main idea out first. Just use the layers to really get the whole idea out there, then when you do that, go through each one and make connecting sheets to really make it come to life.

And if you use multiple layers for one drawing like me, use the group feature to make multiple layers into 1 for an animation.

I hope this is enough info to really help, and I’ll add my animation too! (I don’t have the full “speedpaint” on my phone since I use my iPad to draw and animate, so when I get the chance I’ll download that and reblog this with the process speedpaint vid too if you want!)

Sorry for the late reply, but when you say you use the group feature to make many layers into one, do you mean merging, or is there a way to make a group as one animation page?

There’s a way to make a group as one animation page! All you do is go to layers, add a layer under or over the one your working on, then swipe the layer you’re working on to the right (should be a greyed out version of the normal light blue, that means you’ve chosen two layers at the same time), then where it shows “add layer” in the top right, there should be another option that says “group”. Click that, and the two layers group together and the 2 layers now look like 1 with the animation assist feature!

Do you have any advice for coming up with non-main-plot hijinks? In my writing, I find that my long stories tend to have too straightforward plots, without complications and smaller problems to help with characterization and stuff

Complications and smaller problems are a natural consequence of your characters being characters and not just plot-executing automatons. If your characters feel too married to the plot to have non-plot wants and needs, it might be worth going into your mind-palace and asking them a few questions:

What do you do when nothing needs doing? How do you relax? CAN you relax?

How do you handle peace? Do you enjoy it? Do you trust it? Do you look for distractions, or for threats?

What would you be doing if the plot wasn't in the way? Have you ever really thought about it?

Now that things have slowed down a little, how do you feel about the stuff that just happened? Do you need to talk about it?

I'm the writer, so I know what's coming next, but you don't. What uncertainties are currently preying on your mind? Do you want to do anything to resolve them? How do you handle it if you can't?

What goals do you personally have that aren't shared with the rest of your crew? Do you have an opportunity to pursue that right now? Do you think anyone else in the crew might want to help you with that?

The camera mostly focuses on the important plot beats, but what do you do when the camera's off? What's your morning routine? What do you do for dinner? What does a Normal Day look like when the plot's not intruding?

The events of the plot typically put the characters into a reactive state, responding to outside circumstances and problems. What do they do when they're in an active state with nothing to react to? How do they want to steer themselves when they're given the choice?
