always make sure that the person you pick as a travel buddy isn't someone who takes hours to get ready and delays everything, complains about their feet hurting after every few steps, is always unsatisfied with all the pictures you take of them, walks around with a grumpy face because they got tired even before the city tour even began, and has zero interest in trying the local cuisine. they drain all the joy out of that trip.
