noun; a joker, a wildcard

McTwisp let out a sigh of relief when he heard Sina still thought the same of him, which was comforting. He thought maybe the other would get weirded out and leave him. He’d rather a life liking Sina and only being friends than never having him in his life at all. 

What he said next made McTwisp blush slightly. So there was feelings there. McTwisp wondered if he should push that comment forward and comfront it but he wasn’t sure. “You know…” He started, unsure of what he was actually going to say. Why not wing it? He thought to himself. “You have no idea what I’m looking for.” He didn’t mean it rudely or with any judgement. It was just a simple statement and all he could think in his head was ‘You won’t hurt me. What I’m looking for is you!’ He still wanted to do the same shit they always did. He wanted everything to stay exactly the way it was. Boyfriend status or not.

And there was his way out.

It was almost startlingly easy to slip from his entirely too-guarded speech back into familiar territory of flirting and teasing, now that Twisp seemed to have switched gears. He could flirt away his problems better than he could talk them out, after all. Old habits died hard.

Twisp had never really been one for aruging when he was rejected, it just wasn’t in his nature. He believed that when someone said no that was the end of it. There was nothing he could really do to change Sina’s mind and it would be rude of him to try and convince him otherwise. 

Sure he felt like crying and running away but that wasn’t the appropriate response. So when Sina spoke to him he simply shrugged his shoulders. “You don’t feel the same way.” He stated simply. “That’s fine and all but I’m not going to fight it or argue. You’re feelings matter and I care about you. I don’t want to ruin what we have any further than I already have. ” He explained, smile faltering. Sina looked…Disappointed. 

“You haven’t--..” Sina’s brows pulled together, his mouth pulled into a taught line. It was plain to see that Twisp had a crush on him, but he didn’t expect this amount of disappointment from the boy. He didn’t get it. It’s not like he was anything special, despite how he boasted.

When Sina spoke again it was softer, but still detached. “..You haven’t ruined shit. I’m not the happiest with this situation, but it’s not like my opinion of you has changed.” That much he thought was obvious. “And it’s not like I said I don’t share the same feelings on some level, I just can’t give you what you’re looking for. You’re a good guy-- I’d only hurt you.” His words were spoken almost mechanically, hardly a trace of feeling in them. It was safer like that. Emotions were messy and only led to hurt; he’d rather hide behind a steel facade than face his problems with an open heart.
