In 1949, twelve-year-old Charles H. Cohen survived a horrific tragedy by hiding in a closet while mass murderer Howard Unruh killed his family. Cohen emerged as the sole survivor of the massacre. Nearly 70 years later, his granddaughter, Carly Novell, faced a terrifyingly similar situation. During the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, she survived by hiding in a closet, just as her grandfather had done decades earlier.
