this is what happened to me, i'm not upset with myself for it because i was emaciated as hell and would have literally starved to death otherwise

best believe if you start starving yourself and your body/brain is smart enough to start defying you in order to preserve itself, you could very well develop a binge eating disorder or binge/purging habits. your brain and body are its own organism that YOU are inhabiting, they can and WILL turn on you.

no one eating disorder is more "disciplined" than the other and every eating disorder is hell on earth
