Fine, alright, here's some of my Edison Carter headcanons.
- He investigated a case within a food processing plant and was so disgusted by it, he ended up going vegetarian/vegan (>orders soy burger in Neurostims episode)
- He refuses to ride motorcycles solo since the accident, and would rather go on foot or take the helicopter.
- Speaking of the accident, he covers the scar with make-up every day before his shifts at the network. (This is something @matchasketches came up with) It's actually more visible than in the show, and he despises that viewers could see it in the original broadcast. It still stings (some residue electricity? Or phantom pain?) when he touches it.
- Going back to Neurostims (it's my favorite episode haha), the woman he fantasies about is a stand in for Theora. There was a couple of different instances that pointed to his growing affections towards her, but Carter was dealing with bigger issues/personal conflicts to act further on them
- He's afraid of acting on these feelings because he's afraid Theora won't reciprocate them/it'll make their working relationship more complex. He doesn't want to lose another friend.
- Carter doesn't hate Max, he's mostly frustrated at the situation and wishes Max would control himself/give Carter more airtime. Carter would never admit it, but he does care about Max, a bit more than he'd ever let on.
- (Not seen on the show but in real life) When Max gets merchandise made of him, the prototypes ends up at Carter's apartment. He gets jealous and throws it all out, upset that nothing was made for his show. But Carter keeps, in secret, one of the t-shirts so he can sleep in it at night. (Take this as you will)
- He sees Bryce as his son, and takes him under his wing, especially with dating advice (although Carter struggles to actually keep a partner for longer than a few nights at a time).
- Carter experimented in his college years, but leans more towards women.
- He can become very jealous/territorial with the people he cares for, for better or worse.
- Carter is *amazing* with kids. He wants to have his own some day, maybe with Theora. But he's also terrified of having his own, and the responsibility of taking care of them and protecting them from his line of work.
- One of his few memories with his father is being with him on a golf course as a kid; Carter always felt distant with his father but felt really close to him that day. This is the reason why Max is obsessed with the sport, although neither him or Carter can play it.
- Carter secretly loves Electic Light Orchestra, and owns most of their albums on vinyl (I've been listening to Time while writing my fanfiction, so I can see Carter enjoying/relating to the songs in some way)
- He's a very physical lover. Enough said.
- He loves a good whiskey on the rocks.
- After the accident, he had insomnia and nightmares about that night for months. He still struggles to get a good night of sleep without some assistance (alcohol or medication); he refuses to let anyone at the station know. If he's a bit grouchy in the morning, this is why.
I'm planning on rewatching some of the episodes but here's what I have so far 🥲
