now normally the second half of his comment would be the concerning part for gigi - but at this point of knowing guy, she’s fairly certain it’s just his way of being a bit overdramatic as usual. or at least, she hopes. so it’s the broken tv that really catches the redhead’s attention. “you didn’t smash it did you?” she asks, worried for a moment that he might have done exactly that upon seeing any of the pop culture news shows talking about jello. “’do we need to go out and find you a new one now?” @guyydiamond

lips twisting into a frown at the question, gigi turned to look over at her best friend and took a second to consider both the question and what could have prompted rosie to ask it. “probably not,” she answers honestly. “maybe i would have gotten closer to you back in school. but other than that, no - i don’t really think so.” there’s a pause where she feels like she’s supposed to ask what about you - but she already knows the answer to that. there are probably a lot of things rosie would want to change about her past - hell there are things in the other girl’s life that gigi would want to change for her if she could. “what brought that on?” @rosiewidow

as is with most things, rosie follows gigi with little to no complaint. in this case it’s no complaint at all, as rosie follows the redhead to the kitchen. “i don’t know, that’s up to you.” she shrugs, looking up at the items in the pantry. “i can always go for cookies, but if we’re giving them to poppy maybe not cookies?” she knows for a fact that poppy baked cookies with lily rose on christmas eve, and she’s sure she’s probably baked cookies again since. “maybe we can do cupcakes? maybe chocolate? who doesn’t like a good cupcake?” 

nodding her head at the thought, gigi had to admit that rosie was right. she herself had no issues with baking cookies all day every day, but perhaps not everyone would feel the same. and cupcakes were a good way to mix it up. “chocolate cupcakes it is,” she agrees eagerly, reaching out to grab the flour and cocoa powder from the pantry. “ooh do we still have the little star sprinkles too? those could be festive for new years!”

rosie shoots gigi a look, amused smile on her face at her best friend’s joke. “a real boring house.” she reminds her. it’s never been a secret that rosie’s childhood was far more tame than gigi’s was, and even less of a secret that rosie had always been envious of that. “my parents used to do crosswords and watch the news until they went to bed. and as fun as a crossword sounds,” she rolls her eyes, sarcasm dripping off her words. “i don’t want to spend my new year’s eve doing that necessarily.” she pauses, trying to think of something they could both agree on. “we could…bake something. i’m sure poppy would love to come back to a sweet treat when she comes to pick up lily rose. or we could…craft or something.” the options were surprisingly limited considering there was a baby in the house. 

as rosie looks over at her, gigi just grins and lets out a small laugh that stops suddenly as her face scrunches up a bit at the thought of doing crosswords or watching the news for the rest of the night. neither of those ideas sound even remotely fun to the redhead, but thankfully she knew rosie wasn’t seriously suggesting it. and then when the other girl does give a real activity for them to do before gigi can think of one herself, it’s perfect. jumping up from the couch, she nods eagerly and starts to head towards the kitchen. “what should we bake?” she asks as she opens up the pantry and lets her eyes scan everything they have. “you can never go wrong with sugar cookies - but are we cookied out from christmas? what’s a new years type of treat?”

rosie can’t help the small soft smile that touches her face as gigi bounces on her toes, her friend’s excitement infectious. “oooh, sounds like a plan.” she nods, taking gigi’s hand in her own and leading her out their apartment door. “whatcha’ feeling? pizza? burgers?” it’s silly to ask when she’s almost certain gigi is just going to pick whatever she thinks rosie would want to have, but she still tries. “we can even stop at the candy store and pick up some candy, as a little treat.”

as rosie takes her hand, gigi doesn’t hesitate to entangle their fingers as she follows behind. a soft hum escapes her as she thinks over the options. “pizza might be easier to eat if we’re stuck waiting outside for pt to leave, but i’m good with burgers too if you’d rather do that.” truthfully the redhead didn’t care what they ate - all that matters was that they were going to spend a night together. beaming at the thought of getting candy on top of it all too, gigi gave their interlocked hands a squeeze to show her appreciation. “can we get those like gummy fruit slices? and whatever you want too, of course.”

sitting on the floor in front of their christmas tree early in the morning with the sun barely even peaking out, gigi shot her best friend a grin. “you’re a gift to me too,” she returns the sentiment, leaning forward to place a quick kiss on rosie’s cheek before setting the small present down in her lap. “but i still had to get you something, silly. now open it!” @rosiewidow

“got them!” she calls out as she flutters from her bedroom into the living area and kitchen. with a grin, gigi held up two matching aprons to show off to her best friend. she’d bought them months ago, back during a winter sale and she’d kept them stashed away in the back of her closet for this exact moment. “do you want the little penguin or the snowman?” stepping into the kitchen, she looks at all the ingredients already set out before lifting up on her tip toes to see over rosie’s shoulder. “what are we making first?” @rosiewidow

looking closely at the pictures on guy’s phone, gigi didn’t even notice that his attention changed over towards her until he asks her to share as well. looking up at him with a bright grin, the blonde didn’t hesitate to pull out her own phone. but before she can offer it over to show him the photos an idea occurs to her. one that she hesitates before acting on, wondering if it was smart or might be overstepping whatever kind of boundaries there were between a girl and the guy her best friend was into. “want to come see it in person?” she asks in a bit of a rush, deciding to go for it and just hope it wouldn’t be weird or awkward. “our pictures are cute, but you don’t get to see the real magic unless you’re right there with it.” @guyydiamond​

when gigi jumps up, obviously on board with the idea rosie can’t help but smile. as far as personalities and interests go they were on complete opposite ends of the spectrum, but there was hardly a time where they didn’t see eye to eye on the things that really mattered. terrorizing the obnoxious men in their lives. though, rosie would hardly classify this as terrorizing, but it would at the very least ruin the rest of P.T.‘s week. “he’s probably drinking at the tavern, lamenting to strangers about how he’s got such great vision but everyone else is holding him back.” she rolls her eyes, taking the jacket gigi hands her. “but even if we have to stake out i’m down, we can grab food and make it a date.”

Giggling a little at how easy it was to picture their boss doing that exact thing, having had seen it before in person, Gigi can’t deny that Rosie’s right. PT likely was drinking his night away complaining about the entirety of the troupe - as if they weren’t the one that kept the place afloat and did practically all of the real work required to run the circus. Sure he may be the one that signs all the papers and writes the checks, but it was all of the performers that did the brunt work of recruitment, advertising, and just maintaining every other aspect of the business. Sliding her arms into her own coat, the blonde bounced on her toes a bit. “We should get food in general. Even if he’s not there we can trash the place then have a nice little meal together and take in all our hard work.”

“so much better,” rosie nods, not a moment of hesitation in her answer. “gingerbread men are cuties though.” it should be noted that that’s the one thing they’re good for; being adorable. “that sounds perfect.” of course, rosie would literally agree to just about anything gigi wanted, but she actually was excited about trying those sugar snowball things. they looked kind of cute when she watched someone else walk by with them earlier. “pre-made peppermint hot cocoa, or regular hot cocoa and i just steal some candy canes to use as stirrers? there is a wrong answer, so be warned.”

“they really are,” she agreed. “i almost signed up for that gingerbread contest, but didn’t want to leave you for that long.” it meant a lot to gigi that rosie even came to the festival with her in the first place, so it felt wrong to knowingly ditch her to run off and do something else. they were bound to get separated at some point, that much she knew, but it felt different when it was an accident or just for a brief period of time. “oohh regular with candy cane stirrers, duh.” as if that even had to be a question. not only did making peppermint hot chocolate taste better that way - but it was far cuter as well.
