Millennials, I hate the word because I am considered one. Somehow, I feel more like an 80 year old lady but then again I’m about to post an article from Refinery 29 (which is a HUGE millennial driven site). Maybe I’m guilty, ugh. Regardless, this article follows a ‘young person’ throughout the week with their expenditures. Food and Beverage/Entertainment is the #1 spender for her during the week. With all of this being said, it only goes to what we are preaching about commercial real estate–lifestyle centers, restaurants, entertainment etc. is where the millennials are spending their money. Retail still needs to be a part among centers, just not as much as they used to be. There is a shift and we need to be able to adjust in order to be successful. Time to think outside the box.
