OMG I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD CATCH THIS!! yeah, i feel like this concept defines so much of how shouto views his trauma. it's in the way he always says his scar is proof of how much his MOM suffered & after high-end he tells endvr he can't forgive him because what he did to rei, while leaving himself entirely out of the equation. he focuses so much more on the suffering of his family rather than the absolute horror of what was inflicted upon him -- if you go back through the dialogue of his taunts on ch11, notice how LITTLE of it is about shouto himself. instead he focuses mainly on rei, his living siblings, touya, and the concept of their family as a whole, but the only time he really talks about himself is when he starts those lines about his work study -- and even then, he shifts the focus almost IMMEDIATELY to hawks, again focusing on the suffering endvr inflicted on someone else rather than himself. i think it says so much about how he identifies his trauma and how he views his own existence as something that has caused suffering for others, since endeavour did all of that to create him and then others suffered trying to protect shouto from him. it's like he views himself as part of the problem in a way and thereby the idea to really hammer down how guilty endeavour must feel about the way he treated shouto doesn't compare to the guilt shouto believes he must feel towards everything else he did, since that's what shouto himself is most upset about. the way his family and other loved ones have suffered because of his creation, not how HE has suffered because of the way endeavour created him.

omg you're def not bc my stomach dropped writing it. it reads like a sweet gesture, but it's REALLY not. it's like 98% emotional manipulation. the really dangerous part is the linking of suffering and affection. it's different than the comfort hawks offers at the end bc of the promise dabi makes beforehand, which turns it from a kind gesture to an exchange: IF you manage to pull this off, THEN i will hug you. the affection is dependent on the painful experience and must be earned. this, as we know, is what used to happen with endvr and touya. touya hurt himself during training, but he was rewarded for pushing himself with attention and affection. when he stopped getting the latter, he amped the former up to eleven in a desperate attempt to get it back. i think dabi knew shouto was gonna have a hell of a time with the test, which is why although he was EXTREMELY frustrated by it (as will be explored in ch12) he does what he does best and makes the most of shitty circumstances by 1) giving shouto his sweatshirt so shouto will be thinking about him the entire time 2) offering the hug, which would cross even more of those dabi-touya wires in shouto's mind. bonds forged out of trauma are often very strong and not particularly healthy. dabi is trying to maximize both of these with shouto, so he does what he can to spin this awful development in his favor. the big issue -- for dabi at least, lmao -- is the 2% that WASN'T emotional manipulation. the 2% that was the dead kid whose coffin he had to kick to stop from revealing his identity the moment he and shouto came face-to-face in the hallway after shouto's speech just so shouto would say to HIM the things that he was saying about touya. the 2% that was the voice in his head which cried out in frustration and grief when their FIRST hug in ch9 ended with shouto shoving him away -- boy, i bet he feels super normal about the fact that shouto STILL didn't hug him back this time either :))) so it wasn't a sweet gesture, no. it was, far and by large, part of his Big Evil Plan to do to shouto what endvr did to him: to get shouto attached to him only to rip it all away as cruelly as possible. but what dabi doesn't realize is that the fundamental difference between the goals of their training will make all the difference in the world: endeavour was trying to turn touya into a tool, but dabi is trying to get shouto to love him. simple as that. as of rn, he doesn't actually care if shouto ever gets any better at his fire, he just wants to get shouto attached. but in trying to do so, he's gonna accidentally realize why he could never truly follow in his father's footsteps: he cannot be loved without loving back. :)

lol. lmao, even (sorry this is vague as fuck and it isn't a confirmation of anything shouto will or will not have to do for the mission. stay tuned or whatever)

ooh this is a fun what-if!! fuck, it's hard to say. shouto had just gotten fuckin' PROMINENCE BURNED and as we saw, both his mental and physical state were…not the best. he was really panicking as endvr was reaching for his mask and w/his equipment blocked off, the only way he could've fought endvr off was with ice or fire, both of which would blow his cover. yet if he continued to freeze up, endvr wouldve taken his mask off. it's tough to say exactly what would've happened, but i think there's a very good chance endvr would've discovered his identity and all would be lost. someone in the ch11 comments mentioned how ironic it was that a token of care from a villain saved him, and i love the way they described that. i think it perfectly encapsulates a lot of what will happen for shouto in infiltration arc: discovering how much capacity these villains have to touch his heart and heal him, despite what they've done to the rest of the world. thanks for the fun question!!

OUGHH THESE TWO 💔 i'm extremely excited for and attached to their friendship too, but i think it's crucial to remember that the closer shouto gets with the league, the more it will hurt, since his mission states he's supposed to inevitably betray them. as for himiko, i also think she doesn't really know how to have a normal friendship with someone her age, so it's kind of inevitable that there's gonna be some stepping on each others' toes in ways neither of them intended. himiko is close with the league, but when it comes to people her age, if we look back at the interactions she had w/her classmates as well as tsuyu and toga -- she's used to EXTREMELY intense, one-sided obsessions as a replacement for feelings she's been conditioned to believe will never be returned. that said, she's clearly capable of empathizing with others once she steps out of her worldview and obtains acceptance and trust. himiko, at her core, just wants trust like what midoriya and uraraka have, as we saw in the mva arc. she feels and loves so strongly and the rejection she's experienced when she shows her true self has led her the emotional instability she has today. she loves to love, but she also strives to be loved. she wants the freedom to love and be her true self in her relationships, which is part of the reason she wants to tear down the world that has rejected her, because she has no desire to change who she is. as shouto starts understanding these things about her and realizing how much she wants to trust and love (not romantically) him, the more intense his guilt will get as he starts caring about her in turn -- esp considering how his other close friends, literally EVERYONE in the dekusquad except iida -- have been treated by her. so as he gets closer with her, it kinda feels like he's betraying all of his friends AND her at the same time. hahaha sooo fun. actually there is a very himishou friendship centric chapter coming up somewhat soon, which i'm VERY brainrotted over but it's also unbelievably devastating and angsty so. like. there's that❤️ umm get hype i guess

oh my god he'd wanna fucking kill himself 😭 holy SHIT. i think beyond the shame of traumatizing shouto to hell and back yet AGAIN after swearing he'd do his best to change, the fact that shouto came up with this idea and it WORKED would absolutely crush him. it would prove to him how vulnerable he still is to his own worst tendencies and that even as a man trying to atone, he's still completely at the mercy of his stubbornness and rage. it would show him that deep down he's still the same person who completely lost himself when facing a challenge that reminded him of his own shortcomings, and that even as he's trying to accept his capacity for kindness and love, his family is still his greatest weakness and he'll forever be marked a monster by what he did to them. i honestly don't think he'd feel much resentment or blame towards shouto for that fight, if any at all. ngl he'd probably think he deserved it and somehow try to weave it into his "atonement" narrative he's scrounging up for himself. as we saw in the aftermath, he already felt regretful as he apologized to shouto for how he acted in the fight. if he knew he did all of that both to and in front of shouto himself, idk how he'd cope with the sheer shame of his actions. like how do you even recover from that lmfao. fuck that guy for real

yo! np, im happy to answer :) i think fuyumi's feelings about endvr, like all of his children, are complicated. at this time, what she wants is to keep the peace. she wants her siblings& father to be able to have civil interactions so rei has a safe place to come home to and her family doesn't completely fall apart. as she was growing up, the burden of keeping the peace often fell on her, as touya started to go crazy, rei had a meltdown and was sent away, then touya "died," and she was all natsuo had left. we know she stays at home to take care of things so natsuo could be free to go off to college and live his life, so she feels a huge responsibility to do everything she can to keep the shattered pieces of their family from scattering forever. in jp culture, there is this concept called honne and tatamae. it's a separation of your true feelings vs what you outwardly project to keep the peace. i think this concept is VERY representative of how fuyumi feels about her father & family in general. i think fuyumi does have some resentment and bitterness towards endvr, because he's the one who caused the whole tragedy to begin with. but another factor that adds to the complication of her feelings is that she remembers how things were before endvr went fully off the rails. even though the todorokis were far from normal in her youth, she was just a child who saw both touya and endvr fairly happy and rei was significantly more stable than she was after they discovered the truth of touya's quirk and she had more children. so she knows what that "peace" was once like, even if it wasn't real, and yearns for that facade of normalcy she had for the precious few years before everything fell apart. so tl;dr, as for her feelings about endeavour? they're complicated. i don't think she hates him. but does that mean she loves him? i don't know. i don't think she knows either.

ooh good question!! i think you're right that shouto would have a very different perspective on dabi's scars than dabi himself does. while i won't get into the details of that, i can confirm that such a conversation will indeed happen and it will be suitably devastating <3 esp as dabi reflects on his own initial thoughts in ch10 when he heard exactly what had preceded shouto's scar re: shouto not wanting endeavour at parent's day ("just for that, you fucking deserved mom pouring that boiling water all over your face.") yeah good luck maintaining that perspective dabs when you see how shouto views YOUR scars. lol

OUGHH it would! and you're not the only one to request this lol. while i would love to do it, i'm not sure i have the time btwn my irl life & writing the main story (i hate how long the waits btwn chapters have been lately) so i'm not sure when i'd do this, if i were to. some other ppl have mentioned wanting to do gacha reactions or doodles or a react fic or smth, so if anyone wants to do that, you have my permission!! i bet it'd be SOO fun. in the absence of that though, i'll provide an a for the reactions i'm picturing.

TWICE: swinging between catastrophizing and cheering (WOO THIS IS AWESOME vs OH MY GOD SOMEONE HELP THIS KID)

COMPRESS: impressed at shouto's theatrics but sometime around endvr activated fff his mom mode kicks in and he's like. this is....quite bad? oh dear this is hard to watch

HIMIKO: somewhat worried but more impressed & excited every time he does smth cool and tends to fixate more on the positives. went absolutely fucking ballistic when shouto used her knife

SPINNER: also worried but the most vocally trashing endvr, saying how shameful but unsurprising that a hero would act like that, esp with everything he knows about endvr. a monster will always be a monster etc

HAWKS: was trying to be chill at first but his facade wore off worse and worse and sometime around endvr grabbing shouto he lost his fucking mind. mama bird instincts kicked in, literally zero thoughts other than MYBABYMYBABY-- had to be physically stopped from interfering which wouldve fucked up the entire mission (why tf is the no2 hero attacking no1??) hawks vs geten& twice wasn't that long (fast and brutal) so the league didn't miss much -- but it ultimately wasn't them who calmed hawks down but rather dabi bc of gay shit (to be explained in ch12)

DABI: experiencing every emotion on the human spectrum and then some. inventing new mental illnesses with every hit. this will be extensively explored in ch12, but he was weirdly jealous of both of them -- of shouto for dragging endvr and making him suffer, and endvr for beating the masterpiece to shit. he wasn't physically reacting much other than smoking like a fucking chimney and smoke creeping from his seams and the occasional spark from his jacket. was on the quiet side w/a remark here and there about being "worried" about his student (lie) (kinda). when shouto said that thing about wanting dabi to be proud of him he prob had to excuse himself to go scream into his hands

HII this is a good question!! so as i mentioned there are four arcs: prologue arc (complete), infiltration arc (which began w/ch10), symbol of fear arc (gee, wonder who shows up in that one) then lastly the finale arc. infiltration arc will likely be the longest of the four! as for total chapter count…oughh it's tough to give an exact number. i know most major events in the story, but for things in like…symbol of fear arc and beyond, they don't have chapter numbers yet. sadly all i've got for ya is a rough estimate: likely more than 40, but less than 60. hope this at least somewhat helps!

hello!! omg i cried WRITING the chapter, u and me man 🤝 i will try to take better care of myself haha, i'll admit i wasn't doing a very good job of it throughout the writing of this chapter but i'll try harder in the future :') as for aoyama! i don't plan on him having a huge role, as only a few UA students will be major supporting characters (bkg being what i'd refer to as secondary main, and other key students being midoriya, uraraka, and shinsou) him being the traitor will likely be addressed, but his role as a UA traitor who occasionally got blackmailed into giving info to AFO is, uh…a bit dwarfed in this au, considering Everything shouto is doing/The Much Much Worse Things he WILL do in the future. poor kid 💔

OOH that's an interesting theory!! shiganatsu will definitely have some wild interactions once tomura returns to fuck shit up. while i won't say much about their relationship or dynamic just yet, i will say that natsuo actually is pretty proud of his work and his residency, he was just unenthusiastic in the moment in ch5 cuz he was talking to endeavour lol, and endeavour's whole "i'm proud of you now" bs makes him feel physically ill so he always downplays his accomplishments and shuts down further conversation by default. natsu will actually be back fairly soon, so stay tuned for his reappearance!

ooh i didn't know that!! i know almost nothing about batman or batfam stuff other than that there are a lot of similarities between jason todd & dabi, i just don't know what they are lol. as for the decision to make dabi a classic lit nerd -- there were a couple reasons behind it! one, because he dropped out of school, he prob had to teach himself stuff on his own. while i think he didn't bother with a lot of things bc they wouldn't help him defeat endeavour, i think one day he might've realized "ok, i probably still need to understand SOME things about the world" and classic lit is probably the most accessible, like i'm feeling like he likely just searched "important books to read" and since a lot are required reading for kids that are still in school, copies of them + analyses of the themes, characters etc were all easily accessible online. i think young dabi would probably see himself in a lot of classic lit characters and, being a kid who constantly sought validation, would feel really seen by some of those works -- and past a certain point, i think he just started actually liking all the classics bc his plan DOES involve a lot of patience & biding his time and he needed SOMETHING to do haha. classic lit nerd dabi you'll always be real to me in every universe

SDFGHJ you're not stupid at all dw!! i'd say it's a couple reasons. first is that i'm sticking with canon regarding hawks' lack of a villain outfit -- i think he does a lot of spy work in terms of gathering intel & giving inside info, but he's not like…committing crimes w/the LoV (he's doing other crimes behind closed doors…) so he doesn't rlly need one. shouto, conversely, IS gonna be committing crimes with the LoV -- so he needs to conceal his identity and his quirk, and THAT equipment is built into his villain costume. ironically, despite how much less time the plf has known shouto, i actually think they trust him more bc he was so much more CONVINCING during his speech than hawks' vague reasons are. as we saw from the brief glimpses of the plf we got in canon, hawks is almost treated like an errand boy. they don't trust his happy-go-lucky persona, and his lack of detailed, compelling reasoning makes them constantly doubt why the no2 hero would go turncoat for them. but shouto, after that speech in ch10?? not an issue lol. his emotions were INCREDIBLY raw and it felt honest because it technically was. they have a solid errand boy and intel gatherer in hawks, but as we saw in the plf's convo in ch7, what they REALLY need is another fighter who can help out in raids, missions etc. and then here comes the son of the no1 hero with an absolutely busted quirk and an incredibly believable reason to switch sides? yeah, they're gonna wanna make full use of him. so shouto will be doing villain shit with the LoV unlike hawks, and considering how incredibly recognizable both his appearance and quirk are, he's def gonna need a villain costume to hide both with. not to mention he's already made quite the name for himself as a villain through his plf test alone and should absolutely capitalize on that momentum for the mission. hope that makes sense!!

YOU GET MEEEEE!!! don't get me wrong i love soba brothers fluff as much as the next guy but smth about the devastating angst in their dynamic, that world-shaking push-pull & breaking each other down to eventually build each other back up again is what truly compels me to them and what makes their reconciliation and genuine connection so much more meaningful at the end of the day. this is a good question!! and i think a lot of what this mission is going to challenge for shouto is what the idea of "willingness" even MEANS when he's being pushed to these extremes. a huge part of this is showing shouto how NOT black&white this world of villains is and that often times, the only way to fix an awful situation is to do something equally awful to get out. like, think about THAT moment in his plf test. you know, the one he has to really convince himself he can do. if you had asked him literally that morning whether he thought he'd be capable of doing smth like that, he probably would've been like, what the actual fuck, of course not. and then…he ends up backed into a corner and doing THAT is the only way he can get out. so much of this mission will teach him what hero society has been pushed these people labeled as "villains" to do, and he will constantly be put in situations that will test his morality & how far he's willing to go to keep his cover both with the villains and hide the ever-growing mountain of secrets from his peers and friends. if you're asking for an exact list of crimes he'll commit in terms of how far he's willing to go, i think that may be a bit too much of a spoiler. but i WILL leave you with a perhaps even more fun thought: how far shouto is willing to go for the mission vs how far he's willing to go for dabi & hawks are two ENTIRELY different questions. heh

i won't lie my process is weird and lowk hell on earth. i like to script the entire chap/almost the entire chap in advance before i start writing (i.e. i write ALL the dialogue first, then when it's time to write i'm only filling in prose, descriptions, etc) i usually script on either 1. notes on my phone, i brainstorm a lot while driving so i do talk to text (and have all the bnha characters as contacts on my phone so it doesn't get their names wrong LMFAO) and i also like to hand-write dialogue on my ipad, idk for some reason that just gets the brain juices flowing (pictured: some scripting from shouto's song!) i SWEAR i have good handwriting haha but when i'm scripting i just want to get ideas flowing so it's true chicken scratch lmao. i usually spend about 1-2 weeks doing this depending on how much time i have. then when it's time to fully write, i write best in the mornings, so i'll usually get up anywhere between 4-6am and write until i need to go do smth else (work, going to the barn, etc) which is anywhere from 4-8 hours. so. weird and hellish and awful and miserable but it WORKS so i'm not gonna change it until i need to for some reason haha. i use music to brainstorm a lot -- usually the music will have nothing to do with the scene itself, my brain chemicals are weird man. been listening to a lot of vocaloid lately so miku will be singing about being cheerful and having fun meanwhile shouto is talking about how he wanted to khs to be with his dead brother touya. i tend to think of BIG big ideas on long trips, such as flights, long drives, and long train rides. can't remember the last time i took a 5+ hour trip and tbtd didn't have some crazy new development added lol. hope this helps!!

yeah this question's fine! i dont rlly consider it much of a spoiler since tbtd isn't tagged as MCD on ao3 -- no, none of the league members die in tbtd. some other characters do die, but no one i'd consider a protagonist (which includes the league, since they're major characters actively being saved/helped!) the only deaths are characters i'd consider actual antagonists, i.e. characters who are actively working against the goals of dawn trio + the themes of the fic. hope this helps ease ur soul!! lol

yo!! honestly, solo shouto was my plan all along. i never considered the idea of tokoyami working alongside them in this fic. as much as i like him, i LOVE shouto, and i really wanted to focus on the dynamic and development of just shouto and hawks without splitting the focus between hawks and another student, especially since shouto and hawks had SO much potential in canon but it never got explored. thanks for the question!!

oooh this is a fun one!! i LOVEEE aizawa to bits and he definitely has a key supporting role in the fic. shouto at this point suspects aizawa Knows about his past, so i'll confirm here that he does in fact Know. not the details ofc since no one has ever explicitly told him, but he's VERY observant and has worked with kids for many years so he's got an eye for these sorts of things. i think he'd empathize with hawks too, but since hawks has done some....unsavory things, there would for sure be more complexity in that relationship. i will say that the scene in ch9 between shouto and aizawa where shouto asks aizawa to stop him at all costs if things get BAD bad was definitely there for a reason. aizawa is shouto's emergency contact, after all. <3 

ooh this is another good one!! i do have a lot of it planned chapter-by-chapter, but for things in the distant future (like symbol of fear arc and beyond) it's more rough bullet points of things that will happen without being neatly sorted into chapter numbers. regarding my writing schedule, i try to post a chapter every 2-4 weeks! i think the most common time frame has been every ~3 weeks for now, which is like....half a week break, 1.5weeks scripting, then 1 week writing, though there has been some wiggle room for when life gets really busy, and some 2-week turnarounds have been for when smth POSSESSED me and i couldn't stop myself lmao. as for my writing process, this question got asked already and the answer is the first one under the cut! hope it helps :))

KJHGFDSDFG IM SORRYYYYYY. yeahh the past few chapters have been kinda suffering-heavy (and ch11 is…..not any better at ALL) but there will be some lighter moments in infiltration arc as part of dabi's "plan" to be nice to shouto, as well as shouto bonding with the league (which is sweet if you ignore his deep nauseating guilt at starting to genuinely like and empathize with them…) as for my favorite chapter, ohhh thats a tough one!! if i had to pick chapters as a whole, it would probably be between 4 and 10. as for favorite moments so far, it would be the fight & hospital scene in ch4, touya reveal #1 in ch6, the dabihawks scene in the hpsc archive in ch7, the dabi & miruko moment during the hpsc incident in ch8, the soba brothers hug in ch9, and shouto's song + the soba brothers argument in ch10. :) OH AND the scene at UA in ch1 has an extremely special place in my heart. it's also the first scene i ever wrote in the whole fic -- specifically when endvr shows up & scares shouto. so yeah that one is also v precious to me. i'd love to hear my readers' favorite chapters and moments too honestly, it's always so cool hearing what resonated with people individually!!

kjhgfd this is a good question that has perhaps an odd answer. i...don't edit much. this isn't something i share often, but i don't particularly like the act of writing itself; but i love having written something i'm proud of, so the suffering is well worth it. because of that, when i write something, i want to be DONE with it haha so i rarely go back and change things significantly. in my entire 6-year writing career, i've rewritten a grand total of two scenes. don't get me wrong -- i truly believe in the advice "you can't edit a blank page" where writing *something* you can edit later on is better than never writing at all. however, it's important to remember that not even the best of advice is universal!! while i think it's great advice, it simply doesn't work for me. that said, i do have an editor!! the amazing @ukingk24 <3 i won't post anything without it being beta'd first. he looks for copy edits (typos, etc), general flow, awkward sentences, anything that doesn't make perfect sense etc. he's also very helpful when it comes to piecing chapters together and being a phenomenal sounding board for all my deranged rambling -- he's the person who knows the most about this story by far, our calls are always spoiler city lmfao. i met him in the discord server for my jjk fic and he always had the best fic theories: we slowly became close friends, and he's literally flown to visit me before and crashed on my couch lmao. he's truly invaluable to me and idk what i'd do without him <3 so even though i don't do huge edits, his help is still extremely important to me!! as for what a line should have -- i kinda go by vibes for this, which is something that came with years of practice. emotional conversations tend to have more emotional prose too, but i also like peppering in colorful descriptions during less intense moments too. things like varying sentence structure, general lyrical flow, are also good to vary throughout a chapter to make it more engaging to read :) i never really watched tutorials on writing or read guides or anything, but i did read a LOT in the past and it helped me discover what i like and don't like. after that, practice practice practice made my writing style what it is today!

lmaooo omg ur in luck pal. dabi is THEE possessive character to me, that man violently clings onto ANYTHING that he sees as anything remotely "his." he's about to seriously brain chemical himself with the repeated my brother my student my soldier my perfect revenge plan my dsdfghjk [crashes out] i'm literally living for the fact that NO ONE has any faith in dabi to not getting attached during his new Super Evil "i'm gonna make him care about me and then rip it all away!!" plan. the fakest idgafer there ever was. he's about to cosmically play himself my friends

RUMIIIII MY BELOVED!!! that's a great comparison actually, she does have a role similar to aizawa! she's a very important supporting character and her part is absolutely vital starting fairly soon actually, lol. so she'll definitely be interacting lots more with all members of dawn trio in the future, at some point or another :) the whole squad of Dawn Trio Is Sus Knowers (rumi, aizawa, bkg) have some of the most crucial supporting roles in the fic, with especially bkg being what i'd consider a secondary main character, along with tomura in the future. hope this helps!!

awww thank u!! i'm honored you've been following my work for so long!! i think a lot of the writing volume stuff is the power of sheer brainrot haha, i just get SUPER excited and impatient to put certain scenes out in the world so i have a lot of motivation. having an amazing fanbase of dedicated readers helps, too!! knowing others are excited and eager to read more makes me eager to provide and share and discuss it with everyone :) as for keeping all the plot threads strung together, that's largely another product of brainrot haha and brainstorming scenes in the DISTANT future and piecing backwards what needs to happen/where characters need to be emotionally in order for those scenes to occur. i think that reverse engineering helps a lot with plot consistency, because then everything fits together nicely by design :) as for my writing process, that's already been answered in other asks above!

ooh this is a good question!! and perhaps not one i've given as much thought to as i'd like, despite being a huge shouto stan. i feel like other people probably have way better theories and ideas than i do. i'll give it my best shot though! i mean, by shouto's own admission, he admits he could've turned out similar to dabi if he never met izuku. while he's a more reliable narrator than most, i think it's more complicated than just saying "oh, so he definitely would've turned into a mass-murdering villain." i'm not sure if he would've gone that far, seeing as he did want to be a hero and went to UA, but you can definitely see how he was teetering on the edge in some early moments (why does NO ONE talk about his threats to the villains at usj??? hello???) overall, i could see him becoming extremely disillusioned and doing something to shake up hero society for sure. i'd have to look into more analyses of this myself before getting more detailed than that though! thanks for the interesting question :)

ahh this would be interesting for sure :D honestly, i haven't really defined nagant's role in the fic yet -- i'm not against including her, but it's something i haven't given a ton of thought to yet. this may become one of those reverse-engineering moments i mentioned in an earlier response! you're right that they're all remarkably similar, and those parallels would be right up my alley to explore. (that said, i think nagant and dabi are more complicated than the label of "evil," as i wouldn't refer to either of them as that. but that's a discussion for another time!) thanks for the question!! 

hey!! ahh tysm for the compliment :D honestly i get stuck all the time!! it's a super normal part of the writing process and there are a few ways usually get around it. number one is another place my amazing beta reader @ukingk24 steps in -- he and i were just on call last night as i rambled to him about some infiltration arc soba brothers stuff that's giving me a headache. sometimes just saying it outside can lead to ideas and revelations! another way i get around it is to try to work backwards. think about future scenes, where do characters need to be physically and emotionally for that to happen? what could get them there? that can sometimes get the ideas flowing. i brainstorm to music a lot, and im a weirdo who loves driving and their car so sometimes i'll put on a playlist and go for a drive, thinking about the thing i'm stuck on. it's similar to the shower effect -- while your main brain is focusing on some task (like driving, cooking, showering, brushing your teeth etc) your creative brain is whirring in the background. i've found it's much more effective than staring at the wall and thinking lmfao. and the last important thing is to trust myself! if i focus on how stuck i'm feeling, i'll create a lot more stress which can hinder the creative process. so i'll reassure myself that i've gotten out of tougher spots and always figure it out in the end, so it'll be okay. and i allow the epiphany to hit me whenever it hits :) hope this helps!!

yo!! ooh this is a good question! honestly, the thing that inspired me with that is my sister! she's a novelist, and her novel starts with this AMAZING prologue/epilogue and i thought it was the coolest thing ever so i decided to do smth somewhat similar for tbtd. and i really love it <3 my completely useless superpower is that i have that scene completely memorized word-for-word and can recite it on command lmfao. as for the ending, i usually think of it fairly early on, which has remained true for all of the longfics i've written. i do have some flexibility bc i think that's very necessary for writing long stories, but i've stuck with all of them thusfar and will almost certainly do the same for tbtd! thanks for the question :D

ohh thank u!! honestly i like good brother dabi aus but i also really love canon soba brothers and i wanted to explore their dynamic more, especially highlighting that unfairness they both (yes BOTH) have towards each other. because yes touya's opinion of shouto is god fucking awful but it's all processed through so many layers of trauma that he's created a version of shouto that's completely detached from reality just so he can cling to some feeble sense of superiority and purpose that justifies his existence and goals. like the whole "shouto was born with the perfect quirk but at least *i* have convictions and i'm not a walking talking mindless hero puppet." it's all obviously way more complicated than i'm putting in this meager short reply but i'm so glad to hear u think i capture the complexity of touya's view of shouto because i put SOOO much thought and work into it, i was literally telling @dazaiwilltolive earlier about my 60+ page EACH characterization notes on dabi and shouto (there's one for hawks too lol.) meanwhile on shouto's side, he's created this idealized almost untouchable version of touya in his head which he has completely idolized and longed to be beside him for so long that it's almost like this dead boy he never met is like a god to him. this makes it even harder for dabi to process their connection and further lends to that detachment he tries to cling to, but at the same time to hear how deeply loved he is has him spiralling so hard and is already challenging his notions of shouto, so all he can do is desperately tell himself that it's not real and shouto has no idea what he's talking about just so he can cope with how loved he is. shouto's unconditional love for him is impossible for him to understand when he came from a family so unfamiliar with that concept, and it makes it even harder for him to exist near shouto in a way bc he's already so insecure that he feels like he could never live up to this idea of "touya" that shouto has, whereas the reality is that unconditional love means shouto will love any version of him, no matter what. ugh they fucking destroy me sorry this got long. + adding on a little more bc just from ch10 we can see how badly that the "touya" still buried within dabi wants to be loved so desperately, but he's so lost over the notion that the only member of his family to openly say they love him is the fucking MASTERPIECE. like touya truly has so much love to give, and now there's a family member right before him who is openly willing to give it back, FINALLY. this is why to me it's only a matter of time before he cracks. touya is this bottomless pit of love imo...that's why he feels so strongly, and now that there's someone who has this equally massive amount of love for him it's like...this is what he's waited for, even if it's not in the form he THOUGHT he wanted. this is what he needs. SHOUTO is what he needs. GOD IM DEAD. like we can see so clearly that the dead kid within him wants to love shouto back but god he's just not ready to admit it yet. YET. he will be ready, eventually, and it will hit him like a fucking truck. last thought obv the other todosibs + the parents have super complicated relationships with love but i wont get into it rn this ain't about them. soba brothers forever

KJHGFD NOT A SILLY QUESTION AT ALL i've honestly been wondering if anyone ever noticed this 😭 i did originally write his name as "endeavor," but the more i'd spell his name that way, the more i was like fuuuuck this looks wrong lmao. probably has something to do with spelling both shouto and touya's names with a u, and since he's frequently mentioned alongside them, smth about it was just itching my brain. so i started writing it as "endeavour" and for some reason it just looks better to me and feels more natural to type that way! that said, when i ran the question of the spelling by a friend, they said it would probably confuse my readers that i spell only endeavour's name this way, but not other words that are typically spelled with -or vs -our (color vs. colour, flavor vs flavour, and so on) so alas, i simply spell his name the way i prefer as i'm writing the fic itself, then control+f+replace when the chapter is finished xD but when i'm just chatting i have no filter, which is why i spell it "endeavour" when i'm talking about him in the wild and in my author's notes. hope this helps!
