Background

Kaoru Miyanami is a special grade Jujutsu Sorcerer. After a tragic relationship that left her a teenage mother, she pursued business with the intention to gain power and intel not only in Jujutsu society, but in Japan in its entirety. She has three children. Hana, her biological daughter, is 10 years old. Her other two children, Megumi and Tsumiki Fushiguro, were adopted by her. She has grown quite wealthy through her business, and is a well known social figure in Japan.

Kaoru’s Timeline

Kaoru was born to a couple living in a small rural village on August 16, 1990. She spent the first six years of her life in the quaint village, known to be strong in its tight-knit community of friendly people. Children ran and played together on hot summer days, and gathered beneath blankets together on cold winter nights. Life was simple, until October of 1996. Kaoru had come to learn that she was different from a very young age, from seeing creatures in passing to performing accidental little tricks when she was all alone. On that fateful night, it was pouring down rain. The village rejoiced, rooted in the belief that rain was always a blessing that should be enjoyed and appreciated. It was when the young Kaoru caught a glimpse of an odd creature that all hell would break loose. A strong curse was coming to attack the village, and with all of her little might, Kaoru put up a fight, tooth and nail. After successfully exorcising her first curse, she had thought they were all out of the woods. As the relief set in, strange men approached. Everyone in this village knew each other, yet these men were unknown to her. The young Kaoru didn’t have enough time to react, being dragged away and thrown into the back of a vehicle. The next eight years of her life would be spent training and being captured in the curse user group Q. In that particular time, the entirety of curse users were focused on one thing, and planned to use Kaoru as their ultimate weapon. Then, the day came after eight long years. The day that 14 year old Kaoru was supposed to bring down a certain white haired sorcerer…

It was snowy when she found herself standing in the courtyard of the clan’s estate, standing directly behind the 14 year old Satoru Gojo himself. The mission was simple: take him down quickly. Kaoru had heard stories about this boy. About his unbelievable raw power and his uncanny control over it at such a young age. She found herself being more like a deer In headlights, even if she had trained eight years for this.

Satoru, of course, would turn around and see the dilapidated girl attempting an assassination, his unbothered and cocky nature all too apparent. She remain frozen. Comrades had come with her to chaperone the mission. She couldn’t screw up now. Yet she just stood there. Frozen. Satoru himself became curious, slowly approaching her. He could sense the fear in her, yet not all of it was because of him.

Her comrades grew increasingly wary of the situation, deciding to jump in and attack since she clearly wasn’t going to do the job. They were sorely proven to be much less skilled than the young Satoru, as he had no problem making short work of them. It was a bit impulsive, but Satoru could tell there was something up with her. It was like approaching a wounded animal, but he soon got her to follow him inside to warm up. That was the day she was rescued, found a family, food, and a place to sleep. Due to her being abducted at such a young age, Satoru also taught her how to read and write, since the resources had been cut off from her. They would go on to Jujutsu high together just a year later.

As Jujutsu High proved to be a positive turning point in Kaoru’s life, she began to blossom. She became more socially adaptive and gained her own style. She also gained herself a relationship with Suguru Geto through a slow and steady process.

Kaoru was able to grow in her power, intelligence, and awareness throughout her span of high school. While she wasn’t there to experience the mission concerning Riko, she felt the pain weighing heavily on her boyfriend at the time. The following year was tough, with her attempts of getting him to take care of himself becoming increasingly difficult.

The day he snapped, she had gone on the mission with him to the village. She was just as distraught as he was to discover Nanako and Mimiko in that wooden cage, kneeling down next to them in an attempt to soothe them whilst Suguru talked to the angry villagers. Suguru requested Kaoru step outside with him alone for a moment. She obliged him, and when they were away from any prying eyes, Suguru wrapped his arms around her and kissed her, long and deep and full of emotion. Then, everything went black. The next thing she knew, she woke up in a dilapidated shed. Stumbling out, she was surprised to find a village burned to the ground, not a soul amidst the ruin.

To top everything off, Kaoru received life altering news just two weeks after her boyfriend’s defection. She was pregnant.

On June 18, 2008, Hana Miyanami was born. She was a healthy mixture of both of her parents, to Kaoru’s delight and sadness. Life was turning out different than she had expected, but motherhood faced her with decisions she would have to make for Hana’s sake. Starting a business was just the beginning. In order to gain a higher level of influence within Jujutsu society, she had to make herself stand out, and thus Miyanami Electricity was born. While it was a public company that powered millions of households, she now had the power and influence she needed.

When Kaoru was 19, Megumi and Tsumiki had been brought to Jujutsu high after being escorted by Gojo. She immediately felt drawn to the two, and wasted no time officiating an adoption order. They had lived with her ever since.

As it stood, Kaoru was working full time running her company, keeping her Jujutsu mission few and far between lest she was desperately needed for something. She had her lovely office assistant, Kento Nanami, keep her up to date on everything going on, and she was breezing through life as it came at her. Before wartime, anyway.

CT: Cursed Energy Manipulation

Similarly to how Geto uses his technique, Kaoru is able to control and even extract the cursed energy in people, spirits, and objects. Essentially, she is the puppeteer, and everything else obeys her whims, so long as they possess some kind of cursed energy within themselves. This cursed energy and be extracted, compacted, and used to attack in energy bursts.
