“Q: Can you explain why you are so opposed to pornography?” A. Dworkin: “I find it strange that it requires an explanation. The men have made quite an industry of pictures, moving and still, that depict the torture of women. I am a woman. I don’t like to see the virtual worship of sadism against women because I am a woman, and it’s me. It has happened to me. It’s going to happen to me. I have to fight an industry that encourages men to act out their aggression on women–their “fantasies,” as those aspirations are so euphemistically named. And I hate it that everywhere I turn, people seem to accept without question this false notion of freedom. Freedom to do what to whom? Freedom to torture me? That’s not freedom for me. I hate the romanticization of brutality towards women wherever I find it, not just in pornography, but in artsy movies, in artsy books, by sexologists and philosophes. It doesn’t matter where it is. l simply refuse to pretend that it doesn’t have anything to do with me. And that leads to a terrible recognition: if pornography is part of male freedom, then that freedom is not reconcilable with my freedom. If his freedom is to torture, then in those terms my freedom must be to be tortured. That’s insane.“

“If his freedom is to torture, then in those terms my freedom must be to be tortured.”
Read that. Read it again. This is exactly what “liberal feminism” proposes. That women’s “freedom” is in femininity, in masochism, in self-objectification, and thus in “choosing” what was already defined by patriarchy as “freedom” for women, which is actually just about upholding male supremacy and convincing and raising women to believe we freely chose it.
My true freedom is not to be found in the dictations of patriarchal society, and in order to truly, freely choose anything, I must divorce myself from the hierarchy I was raised into and ask myself these questions; what would I choose in a world without male dominance? What would I choose if I had not been born into a world where society had already determined what a woman is and should be, and groomed me to fit or want to fit this constructed idea of womanhood? Who would I be without patriarchy?

Because as for me I sometimes feel that I am someone’s character. It is uncomfortable being two: I for me and I for others. I and my interior dialogue —I in conversation with myself. I am tired of thinking the same things.

i love how half of millenial humor is just thinly veiled cries for help and the other half is dadaist absurdism
I’m the type of person who holds on to ticket stubs and photos and presses flowers but never puts them into a scrapbook I just have them scattered everywhere which brilliantly illustrates how I’m a sentimental piece of shit who can’t put their life together
