Glenn Undergound @ 24 Moons
At every event thereās usually that one grotty guy who goes around staring women up and down, circling the room desperately trying to get someone to hook up with him/purposely making women feel uncomfortable⦠24 Moons was no exception. Heād stared incessantly at myself and a few of my friends and I multiple times, we gave him no attention, he was grotty, whateverā¦
This one however had the fucking audacity to do all of this wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the word FEMINIST. FEMINIST I SAY. THE AUDACITY! Ā
Anyway, Iām not confrontational, but when my friend pointing this out to me I was absolutely infuriated. On my way down to have a ciggie about 10 minutes later, as I pass him he does that thing where a guy will stop walking and stare as their gaze follows you. Of course, he didnāt stare at my face, apparently staring at my tits was more appropriately degrading⦠and then WINKED AT ME. At this point I lost it. I absolutely lost it. I was so angry not that he should be creepy, thatās a problem for another time, but that he should dare to wear that shirt as some sort of twisted fake justification for his actions, or to provoke people. Ā I yelled at him, something along the lines of ādo whatever you want, be as gross as you want, just donāt you fucking dare wear that shirt and devalue and invalidate everything every feminist has ever fought forā. One of his friends put his arms out between us as if I were about to punch him, told me to calm down. Feminist-my-arse-piece-of-shit-man? He just laughed, didnāt try to apologise, didnāt so much as give me any words, he just laughed. I stormed off down the stairs, people around me stood confused, I bumped into my housemate and her friend on the stairs who I suspect mightāve called security on him (I was too scared to because I didnāt think I would be taken seriously and was pretty worked up and didnāt want to get kicked out myself), as he wasnāt there when I went back upstairs about 15mins later.

I was about to leave with my friends when a guy grabbed my wrists and ordered me not to leave until I hooked up with him. Pulling away, I said that I wasn't interested but he kept persisting. I even desperately told him that I have a boyfriend, which I hate doing because I shouldn't have to explain myself after I've said 'no'. He tried to convince me that because someone else who had a boyfriend hooked up with him last week, then I should too. I had to snatch my hands away and run out of the club to get away from him.Ā
Stingray @ Yah Yahs
I was there with two friends, and an older man and his friend were circling the crowd obviously only there to perv on women. He approached myself and one of the friends, and we both ignored him. Our other friend was in a far more inebriated state (um, still not her fault) and when he tried dancing with her and touching her she wasnāt as confident in fending him off. We tried telling him to go away, but of course it wasnāt until another young man told him to go away that he actually took it seriously (ughhhh, although thanks to that guy). Iām not sure why we didnāt grab security to be honest, most likely because he slipped into the crowd and we couldnāt find him but really annoyed i let him get away with it. Not an uncommon sight at Yah Yahās, and probably not the last time he was seen there either
The Hawthorn Hotel
I was 18 and having an afternoon bev with two friends when the usual Cheap Tuesday crowd rolled in and filled the venue. 3 men of a similar age joined our table and tried to engage in conversation to which we politely responded. One guy points at me and to my friend goes 'she's got great tits hey?'. When I then asked him to leave our table, he pretended to fumble and threw his full pint of cider all over me. I told some nearby male acquaintances of mine and they said it must have been an accident because they've met that guy before and he's 'a good bloke'

Lost Weekend presents Nite Fleit & Mira Boru @ Boney
A man pulls my hair out of the streamlined for efficient reduced sweat dancing bun on top of my head and uses my pain/displeasure as an attempt at an introduction. I ignore him. He pulls my hair again. I ask him to leave me alone. He taps me on the shoulder. I walk away. He follows. I walk away. He follows. I leave the fucking club because Iām sick of being hounded by some gross gacked dude who doesnāt understand boundaries or social cues.Ā
Paula Temple @ Brown Alley
1. A man is walking around groping women on the dance floor, when confronted he smiles the grossest, all-knowing smug smile and tells us toĀ āchill outā. His mate suggests we stop making such a big deal out of nothing.
2. I decline to dance with a man who has encroached on my personal space, he yells at me, āgo fuck yourself then bitchā and pushes me out of his way to find a new girl to leer at. Ā
3. A man comes over and puts his arm around my shoulder asking me if Iām a ātechno babeā. He calls me a slut when I push his arm off me and tell him Iām here for the music not his conversation.Ā
