My first memories
As time passes older memories start to fade, but my earliest memories of my grandparents are still vivid in my mind. I remember before I started going to school, perhaps at 3 or 4 years of age the smell that wafted over our kitchen. Homemade flour tortillas freshly kneaded, flattened and cooked on a hot iron skillet. The countertop still powdery from the flour my grandmother would splash under each ball of dough prior to flattening out the little balls with heavy hands on the rolling pin. I still remember the sound the wooden pin would make hitting the countertop every time she would turn the round dough to make it a perfect circle. ...
