Shiori is so overprotective of Kogou despite the fact they have the same position (at least before the timeskip) as fourth seats of their respective divisions, for Shiori it’s about nurturing and looking after someone who might some day surpass her. Kogou represents the next generation to Shiori, whether she realizes it or not. She’s also…slightly guilty that she had to be the one to help her cross over. 

Shiori tends to cook for her occasionally (lady acts like she has the free time to do it) and takes those meals when she’s delivering paperwork, she tends to act like it’s just a coincidence and that she’s made too much. It’s not. Kogou probably knows this.

Yori always wants to do Ko’s hair in different styles, because her hair is long and pretty and deserves all the attention in the world. Whether or not she’s succeeded is up to Ko, of course.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been in the Eighth.”

Back then she’d been the fifth seat, a stint that had lasted less than a decade, to imagine she’d return as a lieutenant...back then it had been unimaginable. But times changed. People moved on. The thirteenth wasn’t the division she’d joined as a Shinigami eager for change. What did they say? All good things must come to an end?

“Doesn’t it surprise you? How everything seems to be...”

The same doesn’t quite sound right, nothing’s been the same since three captains managed to go rogue, but it says something about the resilience of the Gotei 13, in her opinion. That they can continue on in relative normalcy. Relative being the keyword here. A soft sigh passes her lips before she smiles.

Her voice is chipper, perhaps forcefully so as she makes her way into the room, paperwork in her arms and a spring in her step. There’s no point in just throwing the paperwork there and hoping for the best, Shiori’s always found it best to deliver it, perhaps treat herself to some tea on the way there. It all made work just a little bit more fun.
