i was sitting in the taxi, as we made our way to see the great wall of China, just balling my eyes out because i was seeing parts of the world that they would never be able to see and i wanted so badly to have their sets of eyes alongside mine.

it’s difficult for me to conceptualise a life where i am not financially independent, as i’ve been earning my own money from the age of 16, and as much as i love to complain about capitalism, i understand my privilege and how my foremothers used to pray for the life i am living today.

and i know that with this freedom comes a lot of responsibility— i just want to take this moment to appreciate all of the Albanian grandmothers, mothers, sisters and daughters that suffered as a result of patriarchy, especially those who still do to this day, your suffering is not unnoticed nor forgotten.
