first off, we've got uther executing a child because he's associated with magic? dude. that is far. even for you.

then there's everybody's reactions? merlin at first is normal about it, wanting to save the child, but then for some kind of contrived reason needs to talk to the dragon and the dragons tells him yeah, so that child is going to kill arthur, so better just let it die. and that is honestly really interesting as a moral quandry for merlin. but that's not really the focus of the episode. there's just some scenes of merlin being tortured and trying to make up his mind, and then he decides that letting the child die is better than letting it kill arthur at some vague point in the future. the thing is, at this point merlin and arthur's relationship isn't particularly developed, so merlin decides he's going to let a child be executed because he is destined to kill somebody whose destiny is supposed to be intertwined with his own. he doesn't know what that entails exactly. he just knows because a dragon told him.

morgana is hellbent on keeping the kid alive, not fully because it's the right thing to do. there's the fact that she pities it/sees herself in it, because she knows a magical gift is not something that one can develop. which, yeah, duh. has anyone talked to a person with magic in this show? how does the general public not know more about magic?

and uther becomes even more of a caricature in his evil, not only wanting to kill a child, but also being physically abusive towards morgana <3

Pierwszym wątkiem z ciążą jest ciążą Liz. Liz ma dziecko, a potem idiotyczną kłótnię z TJ'em i Luke musi ich poratować. Nie mogę się doczekać wszystkim dram związanych z ciężarną Liz w następnym sezonie.

Okazuje się, że Luke ma dwunastoletnie dziecko, bo ?? Matka dziecka nigdy mu nie powiedziała ??? Pomijając wiarygodność tego wątku, to dodatkowo zabija go fakt, że jedna z głównych bohaterek całego serialu sama wychowuje dziecko i dosyć często jest mowa o tym jak ciężkie jest wychowywanie dziecka bez pomocy innych. Ale Anna Nardini jest taka dzielna, że sama wychowała dziecko, bez niczyjej pomocy. Poza tym z całego tego wątku strasznie przebija, że scenarzyści jeszcze nie chcieli, żeby Luke i Lorelai wzięli ślub. Albo chcieli zrobić dramsko, że Lorelai myśli, że ślub się nie odbędzie, więc musieli wymyślić, co do tego doprowadzi. Oczywiście, odpowiedzią na ten problem nie jest znalezienie dosłownie jakiegokolwiek innego rozwiązania, albo idk, odpuszczenie sobie tego wątku w takiej formie.

I kolejnym wątkiem dziecięcym jest oczywiście ciąża Lane. Pomijając to, że postanawia wziąć ślub z Zachiem, co jest debilne, to dodatkowo od razu po ślubie zachodzi w ciążę. Debilizm x2. W założeniu Lane miała być taką drugą wersją Lorelai, dziewczyną wychowywaną w domu, gdzie miała bardzo niewiele autonomii, która zachodzi w ciążę w bardzo młodym wieku. Z tym że Lane ma już w tym momencie 21 albo 22 lata. To jest młody wiek na dziecko, ale nie jest aż tak niespotykany. Lane była w stanie normalnie skończyć szkołę, mniej więcej uformować swoje postrzeganie siebie i zdecydować, co chce zrobić ze swoim życiem. Dodatkowo, nie jest tak osamotniona jak Lorelai była w wieku 16 lat. Lorelai nie miała dosłownie nikogo. Lane ma męża, przyjaciół i matkę, która może i nie będzie zachwycona, ale jej pomoże. To nie jest ani trochę podobna sytuacja.
