Continued from this AU which features Korra training with the Air Acolytes.

Actually it’s more like before that picture I linked above happened. I’m still just working things out and messing around with ideas. One of the ideas being that things go as they did in the series at first, but when Korra just isn’t getting it through Tenzin’s usual teaching methods, in steps this little lady. Her name is Arashi and she trains other acolytes in the airbending forms and disciplines, but in a way for nonbenders to use. Tenzin has his responsibilities as Councilman already to a city that’s filled with corruption along with teaching three children and the Avatar airbending. Arashi teases Tenzin but in the end she’d offer to help teach a stubborn Avatar. 

I’m absolutely excited to finally show this illustration inspired by The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, commissioned by V.E. Schwab as a bonus print with every ticket purchase for her upcoming virtual tour in October 2020! I usually take the time to deep dive into these pieces; to explain the symbolisms and inspirations and hidden meanings - but I approached this illustration as how one would approach cutting a movie trailer. To tease your curiosity with its emotions and capture your attention with its mystery, and hope that as you read it, the story behind this illustration begins to unfold with the book.

I hope everyone reading it for the first time can really take the time to absorb it - it’s such a heavy-hearted, slow-burning, and wonderfully atmospheric book. Since I did not have an audiobook version (which I’m STOKED to re-experience when its released), I could only read a little bit at a time on my daily dog walks. But it gave me the time to sink into each segment, and feel a similar stretch of time as Addie was experiencing through her 300 years.

I’m excited for it to finally be released to you all, and super stoked to have been one of the many artists in these campaign events who contributed what I would consider a ‘review’ with our artwork. It’s something I’ve always thought would be improbable to review an ARC through art in lieu of written reviews.

Zutara week 2021

After years of seeing references to the Aaron Ehasz shipping Zutara, I finally set out to find out more about this, and all of the old feels are back. So, so much wasted potential. Such a great, compelling story that could have been told–that never will be told. And not just the Zuko and Katara stuff. Iroh backstory? Toph working on her issues with her parents? Aang grappling with the consequences of energybending? Ty Lee’s airbending decent being relevant? Sign me up!

notice that noses have two major shapes - a trapezoid and a circle. these are really helpful for building the bottom of most noses.

a small Texture Tutorial

I’ve been asked a few times about how I use textures, especially gold textures, so I’ve decided to try and do a little tutorial about it. I’ve never really done a tutorial, but I hope it’s easy to understand, since it’s not difficult to apply :)
