I have absolutely failed keeping up with this but I am keeping it open as a donation box and for people who want the old comic archives. You do not have to support me. If life loosens its icy grip on me maybe one day I will redo this.

But if you’re an idiot like me, you’d probably want to try out Construct2, or Construct3 if you don’t mind that yearly subscription. I use Construct2 cuz its a lot more solid.

Construct2 works on an event based system where you can import images and assign plugins to them, like the platformer or physics plugins. Then you just make events that tell them what to do, based on conditionals and actions, selected from a list in the program. You don’t type anything but variables and object names, and even then you can find them in the object list. Its very intuitive.

My only gripes are that once you go down this route you are dedicated to this engine. Its not like Game Maker where you can sort of translate the game code for a better engine. Here its all contained within Construct and if you wanted to jump ship, you’d have to code everything while keeping your assets.

Also the plugin support pretty much sucks. Forget trying to use good animation software like Spine2D for it, because you are stuck with whomever pities this software enough to make a good plugin for it. I have tried Spriter Pro and it is more trouble than what it’s worth. Maybe, MAYBE its good for big talking sprites, but I wouldn’t use it for more than a handful of objects.

The logic is pretty good at idiot proofing, but you still have to make a lot of things yourself, like menus and battle systems. The objects the system gives you is limited, and you have to be creative enough to expand upon them.

A small price to pay for a style so shitty,
