wanna put these in writing in case i'm right (probably not but anyway)
they're never gonna escape because either a) there isn't any world to go back to anymore or b) there isn't any physical form they can return to
no physical form they can return to = they're all dead OR they were never alive to begin with (they're just uploaded copies of another person's consciousness)
when they learn that they don't have human bodies to return to, it becomes a whole thing of "am i really human"/"am i just an npc" until they realize the magic of friendship or smthg
caine is always watching. at the end of the day, he "believes" that his survival as an AI takes precedent over the safety and lives of the rest of the cast.
i swear to god if the series has an vague, open-to-interpretation ending... i'm not gonna do anything, but i'll be really sad for like 20 min
the series will have a vague, open-to-interpretation ending :(
abstragedy canon (trust)

okay yea. mind files. sure. why not.
"they're just uploaded copies of another person's consciousness" = literally what they are.
but where was the magic of friendship??? why does caine get a redemption arc and the whole cast forgives him, but jax literally dies?? like, don't get me wrong, jax is AWFUL. having a sad backstory does NOT give you a pass to be mean to everyone around you. but jax never gets to learn from their mistakes, they just die?
the ending wasn't vague at all. nothing to chew on, nothing to think about. what's the takeaway? what's the point??? that some people can't be forgiven? that you have to cut toxic people out of your life in order to be happy?
at least abstragedy is canon.
