yet again wondering when the p-dub will get more butch

Considering the PWHL, SDHL, PFWL/SWHL, and Auroraliiga all allow checking now, division I NCAA and top division IIHF should too. Players should be trained on how to hit and how to take a hit before they go pro or pro-am and the hits are already basically happening at the IIHF level, but the standard of what’s called just changes drastically game to game, and having it more uniform is safer for everyone. I wouldn’t be opposed to having it in other IIHf divisions but I’d be curious to see how those athletes feel, as they’re less likely to have access to good medical care / have smaller training staffs and a higher percentage of them rely on a day job

My general opinion is I like the rules of no open ice hits but hits along the boards going in the same direction is okay, cages / bubbles should stay, and rules around head contact that focus more on what occurred then intent / result and are automatic fives and a game, and there should be even stricter punishments for boarding / hitting from a dangerous distance to the boards
