one day i will crack my back in a way that will solve all my life problems
A recall for nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs has been upgraded to the highest risk warning by the FDA. Here's what that means for consumers.
On Aug. 12, the FDA reclassified a recall for nearly 1.6 million dozen white and brown cage-free eggs due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall is now Class I, which is considered "a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death," according to the FDA.
As of July 24, a salmonella outbreak linked to the recalled eggs has sickened at least 98 people and hospitalized 26 across 17 states. The illnesses were reported between Nov. 21, 2025, and June 30, 2026. The FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were aware of 26 hospitalizations due to the recall, but no deaths.

Ella Licari, the first transgender woman to play in the Australian Women's Ice Hockey League, spoke with The Ice Garden for a wide-ranging conversation that spans music, her individual experiences with transition, and redefining her place in the game she loves.
since I've seen people posting about missing women's hockey, i want to remind everyone of the good news that the SDHL season starts in only 1 month, on September 9th! and if you can't watch it live (as many of us with jobs/school/etc who live in the north america time zones can't), some of us do delayed liveblogs that start at specific times so that people can watch and liveblog together if they want.
the SDHL is a top league with a lot of players who have played and will play in the PWHL, so you can see some old PWHL faves, see some future PWHL faves (did you like watching Swiss goalie Andrea BrƤndli in the olympics? did you miss Akane Shiga when she was gone? did you not know initially why the Sirens picked Elisa Holopainen that high in the draft? are you wondering about the new hot masc Viivi Vainikka and the 2026 championship she won? they were all in the SDHL last season!), and find some women to fall in love with who might never even want to go to the p-dub!
don't despair! the women will play hockey sooner than you think!
by the way trans women are real women who belong in women's sports, such as Jessica Platt and Fabienne Peter who successfully played in high level women's hockey with zero issues because they were women playing in women's leagues. the current PWHL was born of both the NWHL/PHF, which had an explicit gender inclusion policy, and the PWHPA, which was established after the CWHL folded, and Jessica Platt was a member of both the PWHPA and CWHL and played regular/exhibition games with them until her retirement from that level of ice hockey. claims that trans women don't belong in women's sports are NOT supported by science OR by any kind of best practice, especially after a short time on estrogen, and preventing people of any age from asserting their bodily autonomy (by transitioning when it's the right choice for them) is also not considered best practice.
ALL woman and girls of ALL life experiences and journeys deserve to play their chosen sport in the leagues and teams that they are most comfortable with without having to expose intimidate details of their anatomy or be subject to invasive tests or procedures to their bodies, OR to appear a certain way, in order to prove they're ~female enough~.
if you don't support trans women as real women and trans girls as real girls, both with marginalized gender identities, you are not welcome on my blog, and you are not welcome in my fan spaces.
i completely forgot (and thanks to hockey-related for this info, as well as info about another trans woman who's intending to return to hockey in 2028), there's an out trans woman in the AWIHL (Australian Woman's Ice Hockey League), where she has been playing since 2016. Ella Licari.
My motivation was to show people that you donāt have to give up on your dreams to be who you areā¦Iāve been given a special opportunity to be visible for those who canāt be. Being a professional athlete, Iāve been given a platform to speak about my history and the things that Iāve been through. So hopefully the other people that have been going through what Iāve been through can kind of find a voice in me.
