I really like winnie the pooh, Can you draw winnie the pooh pleaseeeeee
Happy 10 year anniversary to this absolutely foundational post
#really cannot emphasize enough how much iguanamouth changed the site’s sense of humor and therefore the timeline of the western world
I'm mutuals with people whose teams I usually daydream would fold. But I can't let that get between us oomfs
i know this is tumblr and we’re all playing perverts but i just think some of you would be excellent company for a late night walk and a four hour conversation about absolutely nothing
My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.
Shoutout to people in the notes also mentioning people learning the language, I should've mentioned that really, given that I've been stuck reading German picture books myself while learning German.

ban men's sports i have seen enough
but ykw at least i'm not on mount everest. at least i'm not paying tens of thousands of dollars to slowly suffocate in a 300-person line at the gates of hell. never in my life will i have to be steered in a hypoxic stupor through the maze of poop and corpses atop mount everest. on this earth a lot of horrible things can happen to you without your permission but there are a few that you have to opt into. you can just say no thanks! and be guaranteed never to have to be on mount everest. much to be grateful for actually
still not on mount everest this morning 😌 alhamdulillah
please wear sunscreen!!! I've seen "fuck the beauty industrial complex" posts about complicated skincare regimens and am 100% with them except sometimes they mention sunscreen and no. no. absolutely not. sunscreen is a wonderful supportive friend who wants to keep you safe, and you should let her do it. throw out all your other cosmetics and skincare products if you want, but keep your sunscreen. and if you're not wearing sunscreen, start wearing it!!!! this is not about terror of aging, this is not about every tiny imperfection our fucked-up culture has made you feel insecure about, this is about protecting yourself from skin cancer. wear the damn sunscreen.
Also, please wear sunscreen even if you’re dark skinned! Melanin is an amazing molecule, but even it doesn’t provide full UV protection - you’re still at risk for sunburn and skin cancer without sunscreen.
A guide to common courtesy hockeyblr tagging
I know a lot of people here are new to tumblr/HRPF/hockey, so I wanted to write a little guide on tagging etiquette so make sure that we can all continue to have fun together. I'm also new to this space, but I've been on tumblr for over 10 years and I've been adjacent to hockeyblr for most of that time, so I'm pretty familiar with the basic rules. Feel free to add on anything you feel I missed!
RPF does not belong in the main tag for the team or player!
Not everyone wants to see RPF! If you are tagging your a/b/o discourse posts with "#will smith hockey" or "#san jose sharks", you are making hockeyblr a less inclusive space. RPF belongs in RPF-specific tags.
RPF-specific tags tend to vary based on the ship and team, but here are some examples of formats you'll commonly see:
Ship names (#willmack, #sidgeno)
Initials (#TKNP, #TZJD)
Combinations of player numbers (#1634, #829)
Player/team x reader (#will smith hockey x reader, #sharks x reader, #san jose sharks x reader)
Player/team imagine (#quinn hughes imagine, #minnesota wild imagine)
2. Tag generally (for filtering purposes).
Using the general RPF tags is also extremely helpful for filtering purposes. It's really annoying to block the "x reader" tags for every single player and team. You can help out your fellow hockeyblr users by using these general tags! These include:
#hrpf
#nhl x reader
#x reader
#nhl imagine
3. Tag specifically (for everything else).
Only tag the players/teams actually involved in the post, and only if you think people in that tag will want to see it! This goes for main tags and RPF-specific tags.
If you're a Sharks fan mourning the Eklund trade, do not tag "#ottawa senators". If a post is about willmack and only kind of mentions Gavin McKenna, do not tag "#gavin mckenna"! You're clogging up those tags, which makes it harder for fans of those teams and players to find content they actually want to see.
And even if a team/player is the main subject of that post, ask yourself if fans of that team/player will want to see it. If you're a non-Devils fan making a post about how much the Devils suck, you probably shouldn't tag that post "#new jersey devils" unless you want a lot of angry Jack Hughes stans in your inbox.
4. Use your best judgement.
Obviously there's a lot of gray area here, especially with posts that aren't super explicitly shippy but might appeal to shippers.
Like, if you're just posting a picture of two players, it's probably fine to tag it with both the ship name and the main tags. If you're captioning the post, "I bet they fucked after this," then maybe think twice putting it in the main tag. Just be considerate and thoughtful towards others!
5. Search using the tag ("#sharks lb", not "sharks lb").
The system only works if you use it correctly. In my opinion, it's not the responsibility of everyone in a given tag to censor the names of the opposing teams. You won't see posts from other lb tags if you just search using the tag instead of by keywords.
TL;DR
Remember, the purpose of tagging is to allow other users to filter for content. This is not Tiktok or Instagram. Do not just throw on all the tags that are somewhat related in hopes that more people will see your post. We can all have fun together if you just have some common courtesy for other users!
great addition from @thatswillsmithhockeybaby's tags:
#also just a side note: this is for original posts!#reblogging and adding your own tags won't clog the searches or anything#so don't worry about your tagging system#reblog that photo of a bunny and tag it will smith hockey and it won't show up in the will smith hockey tag#but please please yes follow tagging etiquette!
I've seen a few people confused about why using the main tags is a bad thing if you're also using the general #hrpf or #rpf tags for filtering. The problem is that when you filter a tag on tumblr, it doesn't completely hide the post. The content is hidden, but the post still appears like this:
So even if you've filtered the tags you dislike, going into the '#san jose sharks' tag just shows you a sea of "This post contains filtered tags." This still makes it very difficult to find non-RPF hockey content.
Let me put it another way. Imagine we're all at a house party together. RPF is like the dance music playing in the basement. Some people are really want to dance, which is great! But a lot of people are here to hang out with their friends and talk. If the music is too loud, no one upstairs can hear each other talking, and they might leave the party. When you clog up the main tags with RPF, it makes it difficult for non-RPFers to share that space with you.
"But AI can't do your job. It can help you do your job, but that doesn't mean it's going to save anyone money. Take radiology: there's some evidence that AIs can sometimes identify solid-mass tumors that some radiologists miss, and look, I've got cancer. Thankfully, it's very treatable, but I've got an interest in radiology being as reliable and accurate as possible. If my Kaiser hospital bought some AI radiology tools and told its radiologists: "Hey folks, here's the deal. Today, you're processing about 100 x-rays per day. From now on, we're going to get an instantaneous second opinion from the AI, and if the AI thinks you've missed a tumor, we want you to go back and have another look, even if that means you're only processing 98 x-rays per day. That's fine, we just care about finding all those tumors." If that's what they said, I'd be delighted. But no one is investing hundreds of billions in AI companies because they think AI will make radiology more expensive, not even if that also makes radiology more accurate. The market's bet on AI is that an AI salesman will visit the CEO of Kaiser and make this pitch: "Look, you fire 9/10s of your radiologists, saving $20m/year, you give us $10m/year, and you net $10m/year, and the remaining radiologists' job will be to oversee the diagnoses the AI makes at superhuman speed, and somehow remain vigilant as they do so, despite the fact that the AI is usually right, except when it's catastrophically wrong. "And if the AI misses a tumor, this will be the human radiologist's fault, because they are the 'human in the loop.' It's their signature on the diagnosis." This is a reverse centaur, and it's a specific kind of reverse-centaur: it's what Dan Davies calls an "accountability sink." The radiologist's job isn't really to oversee the AI's work, it's to take the blame for the AI's mistakes. This is another key to understanding – and thus deflating – the AI bubble. The AI can't do your job, but an AI salesman can convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job. This is key because it helps us build the kinds of coalitions that will be successful in the fight against the AI bubble." - Cory Doctorow, The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Criticizing AI

what other ppl don’t understand is that when your baseball team has been dogshit for like 45 of its 50 years, you develop a kind of dread-fueled solidarity and loyalty that no winning team will ever understand. i love my dogshit team. living for the hope of it all or whatever
siiiigh. don't think they'll manage. yeah, they didn't. damn that was so close
free my girls from that scrum they did that shit but i don't care
i have no fucking idea how penalties work
