Say it with me fellas:
CHATGPT COUNTS AS AI ART
You cannot be completely against the concept of a generator thieving someoneâs original concepts, ideas and work to create something new if you think that only applies to visual creativity.
You are part of the problem if you think this way.
The written word is a form of art, but if somehow you donât see it that way, hereâs a more logical perspective.
Just remember that both written word generators and visual art generators run on the same code and do the exact same thing; destroy creativity, plagiarise hard work, and wipe out entire industries that have been around for thousands of years.
In the end itâs all generative AI. So why boycott one and not the other?
anytime I want to feel emotion again I put a musical soundtrack on shuffle and pray to the gods that the emotional whiplash doesnât kill me đ
A friendly reminder from one artist to another; RENT was a discarded idea. RENT was something Jonathan Larson came up with and forgot. And it changed the world.
That rough draft you have, that stupid idea you had three years ago? That could alter someoneâs brain chemistry. You could change the world.
You could change the world.
Please donât give up. Please donât stop writing. Please donât stop drawing. Please donât stop making music. Please donât stop thinking those beautiful, terrifying thoughts that live inside your mind. Because youâre incredible.
And if some random guy waiting tables in SoHo can alter the minds of a nation, then why canât you?
And donât give me some crap about you being too old, either. He was in his thirties when RENT got its funding. He was dead before opening night.
Moral of the story is this; itâs never too late. Even after youâre gone, you will continue to change the world. You mean something, your art means something.
You could change the world.

falsettos - the case of harmonizing
I've been recently obsessed with Falsettos (2016) yet again, and I have a lot of thoughts. Pls note that i haven't had music classes since i was 12 so i might be completely wrong but if YOU know the answer to my question please comment and talk to me about it !!!
As we all know, music and melody is an important theme in this musical, especially in the first act and while ive been listening to the soundrack i started to wonder: how important is harmonizing? To be more precise: how important harmonizing is for MARVIN'S character?
So, in Tight Knit family Marvin states that "[he wants] a group that harmonizes". But as the musical progress he rarely actually harmonizes with the group he wants to: Trina and Jason.
Its evident in Everyone Tells Jason to See a Psychiatrist. At first, Trina and Marvin try to convince Jason to see Mendel using completely different arguments, while Jason rejects the idea - they are all singing different melodies and lyrics:
When they finally start siging together, they sing exactly the same notes and exactly the same lyrics:
It shows how they finally all agree on something for a second, but it's that the family is a mess and nothing more.
Then the intresting part happens:
While they do use the same words, they sing it in harmony, that appears to be "clashing" and simply umpleasant. It highlights how they can't seem to understand each other and how, against Marvin's wishes, they do not harmonize nicely. While the progression uses chromatic scale which consists of minor seconds (which are forms of dissonance) it also uses perfect fifths and perfect forths. Both are perfect and consonance (which means in theory they should sound pleasant) but it's worth noting that perfect forths are concidered "stylistic dissonance". I believe (but might be wrong) that also diminished fifth is used, which enhances the unpleasnt harmony (in middle ages it was forbidden to use such progression as it was so unpleasant it was believed to be evil, almost devil-like.
It's also interesting to me that the one creating this dissonance is Trina - Marvin and Jason sing the same melody. Perhaps, it's highliting the fact that Trina is a woman, therefore it expands on the gender roles theme, OR it's showing how Marvin is trying to get his son to love him and communicate with him; here, he is very close to that. It's just a shame this is the only thing they're agreeing on at this point of the musical.
Here, Marvin and Trina finally agree on how to talk to Jason, use the same arguments and sing unisono - they're on the same note, literally and metaphorically.
To digress for a moment, I want to focus on this fragment:
In contrast to Marvin's attempts, Mendel almost immediately sings with Trina and Jason unisono. It showcases how Mendel will get the "nice, tight family" and Marvin will keep wishing for the "tight-knit family". (on a side note, I love the connotations that come with tigh-knit and how it's reversed in reprise with "nice, tight". I love that reprise in general it's so good.)
Bonus points because rel and also "tired" it's sang in major third which is concidered to be a happy interval and "one of the most consonant intervals".
Except for those examples, I don't think Marvin, Trina and Jason sing a lot together, just the three of them. But whenever they do, they disagree, and it's showed through lyrics but also through melody. Marvin does get "a group that harmonizes" but it doesn't happen until second act. Anyways, I love Falsettos, I hope this is not total bullshit
just described falsettos to my friend from theatre as the toxic yaoi musical to get him to watch it with me and Iâve never felt more hilarious in my life.
edit: also we kissed while watching the toxic yaoi musical (specifically right after The Chess Game for some reason?) and now weâre together so if my life can get any more gay rn so be it, but I do believe itâs at max capacity.
Rereading If We Were Villains again, hope Richard isnât about to do what the fuck I think heâs about to do.
My Bunny Corcoran moment was when I was 6 years old and I thought my friendâs teacher and my teacher were the same person despite looking only slightly alike until I saw them standing next to each other and I started crying.
Iâve yet to leave them on the shores of metahemeralism.

some teenager visiting the bookshop who only walked in for the aesthetic would introduce Crowley to video games, and then Crowley would buy a Nintendo switch to rope Aziraphale into it too. Aziraphale would absolutely suck ass at it, but heâd always make sure Crowley is having fun (Crowley would not sound like he was having fun, he would be quite the rager when he lost, but he would enjoy it immensely.)
Aziraphale would have the CUTEST Animal Crossing island. Crowley would take great pride that his island was absolute shit. đ¤Łđ
Crowley would have some sort of gardening game and regardless of how well he was actually doing in the game, if he yelled at the screen passionately enough the game would miraculously alter itself and the plants would look even better than they were ever designed to look.

Analysing some of my favourite lines in The Chess Game bc fuck you.
âThats the king. Treat him nice, use some brains, now protect him.â Marvin is referring to himself as the king and asking Whizzer to care for and protect him.
âStart again, weâve seen the worst.â They began the relationship again after a really toxic first year in which they âsaw the worstâ of each other.
Followed by Whizzerâs âIâll go first.â Whizzer dies first out of the two of them, and also dies before they have a fulfilling life together with this new decently healthy relationship.
Whizzerâs repeated soft request for Marvin to âMove the pawnâ is a request for him to be more active in the relationship, pretty much saying itâs his turn.
âMoreâs the pity, since you need a man whoâs brainy.â Whizzerâs callback to Marvinâs first line, heâs been led to believe that all heâs good for in the relationship is playing the stereotypical âwifeâ role that Marvin forced him into. He doesnât understand why Marvin suddenly wants someone whoâs âsmartâ. The âWhat should I do now, how should I behave myself?â afterwards confirms his confusion.
So the moral of The Chess Game is: WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
some teenager visiting the bookshop who only walked in for the aesthetic would introduce Crowley to video games, and then Crowley would buy a Nintendo switch to rope Aziraphale into it too. Aziraphale would absolutely suck ass at it, but heâd always make sure Crowley is having fun (Crowley would not sound like he was having fun, he would be quite the rager when he lost, but he would enjoy it immensely.)

I do believe that The Secret History and If We Were Villains have a very similar storyline. However, I also believe that they have enough differences to be considered seperate books. The idea of a book being a âcopyâ or âripoffâ of another is childish, especially when weâre dealing with a contemporary classic and a modern tragedy, one of which is heavily based on the work of Shakespeare (whoâs writing spans so many genres and tropes that it can be seen as an influence in almost every story, even if it was not the authorâs intention). I believe that people are allowed to like both books an equal amount if they, as I have, choose to do so.
So, since all I ever hear about is the similarities between IWWV and TSH, here are some of my favourite differences.
The murders occurred for very different reasons. In TSH, Bunny was murdered because Henry believed he might go to the police about the murder theyâd already committed, among other reasons like his newfound abusive behaviour towards some members of the group. In IWWV, the murder of Richard was a partial accident, and done completely in self defence. While both Bunny and Richard were murdered in part because of their abuse towards their respective groups, there was an actual plan in place for Bunnyâs murder, while Richardâs was purely because James had no other choice.
The approach to the genre of the story. In TSH, the story is told as a snowball of events, leading to the demise of the groupâs dynamic and the eventual end to Henryâs life. The story, in my opinion, defies genre. In IWWV, the story reads as more of a mystery, though the switching from present day to past tense prevents it from being a true murder mystery. It isnât obvious who actually killed Richard until the end of the story, even if we find out that all of the characters choose to leave him to die when they find out he is still alive.
The narratorâs perspective on the story. In TSH, Richard is a very unreliable narrator, telling the story as an outsider coming into this world and romanticising a lot of the events. This serves the purpose of the story well, as the general lesson learned is to be careful falling in love with an aesthetic. In IWWV, Oliver tells the story as someone who knows the dynamic of the group and has been a part of it for years. He is much more reliable, which serves the mystery element of the story well.
The portrayal of the characters. In TSH, the author has created characters that we are supposed to dislike, characters that are genuinely terrible people. This was done on purpose, meant to be uncovered with the narrator as he realises that this great group he joined isnât all that great. Despite this, I do believe that a lot of the characters were influenced by Henry and Julian (who both show symptoms of narcissism and other personality disorders). In IWWV, the author portrayed characters who are more akin to typical college age people. Theyâre social with other students, go to parties, and engage in banter and friendly arguments. While they are more outcast than their peers, they arenât living as outright recluses as the characters in TSH are. This is why people generally prefer the characters in IWWV over TSH, and consider them to be ânicerâ.
Yes, both stories have very similar plots, but there are many differences that make each of them their own amazing story. On paper they seem like almost identical stories, but anyone who has read both knows that this just isnât the case. The two books make you feel very different emotions as you read, and isnât that whatâs the most important? Any book can be similar to another if you think hard enough about it, but we have to try to understand that itâs almost impossible to come up with original ideas as so many new creative works are born. Even Shakespeare struggled to write plays with tropes he hadnât already written about by the end of his career. Calling a book a ârip-offâ of another is insulting an authorâs hard work and dedication. Both books are astoundingly authentic and beautifully written, and should be loved as seperate stories.
